The Muppet Show - Sax and Violence
"'Sax and Violence' is meant to have been a sax solo by Zoot for episode 102 of The Muppet Show. Before he begins his song, he doesn't want to play it, but Nigel talks him into it by threatening to get a new sax player. During the performance, Zoot blows small notes of music at a time, and halfway through the performance, Mahna Mahna shows up playing a bell and wildly hitting Zoot's saxophone and face. A shot of Zoot blowing his sax from this number was shown at the very end of the It's the Muppets videos from 1993, and this same shot was used at the end of The Muppet Show reruns on Nickelodeon. It was also used for the music of a montage on The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson. The Zoot : 'Eleanor Rigby' - music video
A live version of Eleanor Rigby performed by the Zoot on GTK. The Zoot is an Australian band that were together from 1968 to 1971. This clip is their 1970 cover of the Beatles classic 'Eleanor Rigby' After the band split up, lead singer Darryl Cotton went onto a successful solo career in Australia while guitarist Beeb Birtles (on the right in this clip) became a founding member of Little River Band. Probably the most successful was Rick Springfield (on the left in this clip) who went to the US and had numerous hit singles including 'Jessie's Girl' and also beame a soapy star in 'General Hospital'.

Cherry Poppin' Daddies - "Zoot Suit Riot" (original video)
The original 1997 video for "Zoot Suit Riot" by Eugene, Oregon ska/swing band the Cherry Poppin' Daddies, from their fourth album of the same name. Directed by Isaac Camner and filmed at the Cafe du Nord in San Francisco. This is the rarely seen original "Zoot" video which aired only once on MTV. Once the song became a hit, CPD's record label made them film another video, as this one apparently "wasn't up to the standards of MTV". "Zoot Suit" is a 1981 filmed version of the Broadway play "Zoot Suit Riots". Both the play and film were written and directed by Luis Valdez. The film stars Daniel Valdez, Edward James Olmos — both reprising their roles from the stage production — and Tyne Daly. Many members of the cast of the Broadway production also appeared in the film. Like the play, the film features music from Daniel Valdez and Lalo Guerrero, the "father of Chicano music." In Zoot Suit, Luis Valdez weaves a story involving the real-life events of the Sleepy Lagoon murder trial — when a group of young Mexican-Americans were wrongfully charged with murder — and the Zoot Suit Riots. In the play, Henry Reyna (inspired by real-life defendant Henry Leyvas) is a pachuco gangster and his gang, who were unfairly prosecuted, are thrown in jail for a murder they did not commit. The play is set in the barrios of Los Angeles in the early 1940s against the backdrop of the Zoot Suit Riots and World War II. Autum Leaves - Zoot Sims 1985 In 1985 somewhere in Sweden, Zoot played a session together with two top jazz musicians. In a comfortable living room he recorded with bassist Red Mitchell and guitarist Rune Gustafsson the old and famous standard called Autumn Leaves. Zoot died that year, unfortunately at only 59. This might have been his last recording. Red Mitchell was the musician who tuned his bass in fifths, just like the violin and and the cello and this shows in his creative and unique solo work . Rune Gustafsson, maybe it was done in his house, recorded already with Zoot in the late seventies. All together this was done in a relaxed atmosphere and that shows in what you hear.
