I found this while vacationing in South Africa. It claims to be the world's fastest, highest, longest, steepest zip line. The specs are in the video. It was a lot of fun and not too scary. Except when you are looking down from the top of the mountain.

TREE HOUSE ZIP LINE !!!
This might not be the longest or fastest zip line but it took 15 minutes to build and it was awesome.It starts from the roof of our tree house about 20 feet off ground and goes down over a brook for about 80 feet.I made it with 150' static rope, couple of carabiners and tendem pulley.I had about eight runs before i let my seven year old son try it. I hope you will enjoy it ,rate it and comment on it and give me ideas for future projects.Thanks for stopping by...BTW if you want to build your own zip line you should go to EASTERN MOUNTAIN SPORT or EMS.com and they have everything you will need and they will answer any questions and help choose the right stuff !!!

Zip Line Tour
The exhilarating journey begins 500 feet above sea level, at the top of "Hog's Back", near the gate to the interior. From there, participants travel nearly three quarters of a mile over the 3671-foot zip line down to Descanso Beach. The ride is comprised of five separate sections with a total elevation drop of 440 feet and speeds reaching 40 to 45 mph. Each platform along the way gives participants a chance to admire spectacular views of the surrounding island interior and ocean and read interpretive signage depicting the unique and interesting aspects of Catalina Island; its flora, fauna and history.

As a surprise Christmas present for my parents, we delivered our gift via an indoor zip line. Leaving no chance for anyone to even think it over, we were already scheduled for the next morning to go do it. The Spring Mountain Ski Area has a year round zip line canopy tour that integrates a full obstacle course with rope ladders, wire tightrope walks, wobbling bridges, and a final rappel back to earth at the end, all interspersed among multiple zip line runs. Zip Line Gold Mining: Buckets Of Ancient River Bed Material Quickly Drops To The Highbanker Below My buddy and I found some bench gravel 40 to 50 feet up the mountain from the river. We could see where some of the old miners tunneled into the side of the mountain to chase the placer gold. What we saw was a pretty remarkable site. Rocks the size of small cars, just hanging in suspension in the hard pack ancient streambed. It's always good to find virgin ground for prospecting. The old miners obviously dug tunnels to chase the placer, but it's really cool to see that untouched stream bed. We had a great time and look forward to returning. This area belongs to a lifelong friend of mine, who has not only the private property to this land, but a patented mining claim without expiration. We are forever grateful for him. We figured the best way to get the "buckets of gold" down the mountain and across the river was a zip line. Brilliant idea, (my friends, not mine). Worked incredibly well.
