Yvon of The Yukon Theme Song
Lyrics: There once was a Frenchman, Yvon was his name exploring new worlds he dreamed was his fame but reading a map was not his forte so poor Yvon was soon cast away Yvon (Yvon!) of the Yukon Sailing the stormy seas Yvon (Yvon!) of the Yukon No one could hear his pleas He soon found himself in a bit of a pickle The frigid north seas proved more than fickle Yvon's navigation would soon cost a price He was knocked overboard and turned in to ice Yvon (Yvon!) of the Yukon Happless Volunteer Yvon of the Yukon Frozen for hundreds of years 300 years passed and with some irony Yvon was thawed out by Mutt's need to pee Yvon claimed the land for his country's glory and thats the start of Yvon's story Yvon (Yvon!) of the Yukon Frozen by icy seas Yvon (Yvon!) of the Yukooooooooooon Deeeeeeeeeeee-frosted for you and for me!

Yvon Chouinard and the American Express Members Project Commercial
Patagonia's founder, Yvon Chouinard, appears on an American Express commercial for their members project with Takepart.com. The piece was filmed in and around Ventura County by academy award winning cinematographer Robert Richardson and directed by Scott Hicks of "Shine" fame. The dam that's featured is the Matilija Dam, an outdated monstrosity that sits 18 miles upstream from Patagonia HQ on a tributary of the Ventura River. With its crumbling concrete and silt filled reservoir, Matilija Dam no longer serves any beneficial purpose. Its removal would allow native Southern Steelhead trout to once again use the river to spawn, and give local beaches a much needed boost in sediments (more sand) from the steep canyons of Matilija Creek. If successful, it would be largest dam ever removed in the United States. All proceeds that Yvon receives from the commercial will be divided between five of environmental groups of his choice: Concervacion Patagonica, Atlantic Salmon Federation, Freedom to Roam Coalition, Native Fish Society and Save our Wild Salmon.
Interview with Yvon Chouinard
His vision for his outdoor clothing company Patagonia is clear: produce highly qualitative and sustainably manufactured clothing and use the profits to support the protection of our planet. 1% of his annual sales goes to environmental activists. He works as consultant for companies like Wal Mart to show them that ecological responsibility doesn't contradict economical success. If you're not part of the solution you're still part of the problem, according to Yvon Chouinard. That's why he leads by example, lives a simple life consuming only what's necessary and uses all his resources to protect the environment. A talk about a fulfilled life, personal values and hopes. www.seventh-generation.de/en/home.html

"I am a Nerd" by Katelynn Yvon
It takes a lot of skill, passion, and even a little courage to be a cosplayer. It takes those same attributes to also perform in the cosplay masquerade at any Anime or Comic Book convention. At the 2011 ConnectiCon, cosplayer Katelynn Yvon took those attributes to a higher level. At the ConnectiCon Cosplay Masquerade, cosplaying at the White Rabbit, Katelynn took the stage and performed her poem "I am a Nerd". A poem about and for those who have ever felt like an outcast because of their love and passion for anything and everything geeky. She spoke passionately and proudly about being nerd, reference everything from Star Wars to old school Nintendo. How being normal isn't being real, its hiding who you truly are. The same passion that we as nerds put into animes, comic books, and cosplays is the same passion we put into life and this young lady reminded everyone of that. Her words so powerful, that not a dry eye was left in the house, and ending with a standing ovation by everyone in attendance. Inspired by her friends, people who felt alone in their passion, and people that were just jerks to them because of that passion, she manage to speak to generations of nerds and inspire them to be proud. While also inspiring those people who didn't get to finally get it. Not everyone who is an all out otaku/nerd is lucky enough to have an outlet for their passions. Not every state has a convention big/small, or even if they do it's not that accessible to them for any number of ...

Patagonia Founder Yvon Chouinard and Tom Brokaw Talk ...
Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard stopped by the Fast Company HQ recently with his longtime friend and travel partner Tom Brokaw to talk about sustainable business. It's a subject he knows well, thanks to his years of innovation at Patagonia as well as his experience founding the organization One Percent for the Planet, an alliance of companies that pledge to donate 1% of revenues to environmental charities. When companies give back to save the planet, says Chouinard, it's essentially green marketing. Related Stories: Can Wal-Mart Be Sustainable? John Cunningham Climbing Ben Nevis 1976
Rare footage by Yvon Chouinard, initially created for National Geographic featuring John Cunningham climbing an unspecified climb on Ben Nevis. No permission was granted to put this up, but I felt this is footage that shoud be shared with people. If the creators are unhappy with this then I can take it down. A few points of interest ... The 'climb' is actually a montage of different shots, I'm not sure the exact climbs, but my best guesses, based on the forum posts that have gone up, and an email are that the initial shot zooming in is Zero gulley (see www.youtube.com ), except that the shot has been reversed for some reason. The middle section, with the avalance is possibly Garadh Gully page 189 of Creaagh Dhu Climber "part of the film was supposed to be fictional," says Chouinard, with John playing a hard case from a rundown part of Glasgow. He rides on his motorbike across Rannoch moor, solos something and then slips and falls but no-one knows if it is real or imagined, it was kinda surreal. The film never got to be seen because in another section, filmed in China , half the film crew were caught in a terrible avalanche. The director was killed and I broke a couple of ribs." Chouinard also mentions the filming in his 'Climbing ice' book (page 157 in the original 1978 version). He mentions being avalanched near Comb Buttress, by a cornice collapse on Number Two gully. The ferry crossing is actually the corran ferry, but probably made to look lik ethe bally one. the ...
