Yosemite
California travel expert Veronica Hill of www.CaliforniaTravelExpert.com visits Yosemite National Park in this episode of "California Travel Tips." Plan on a full week to fully enjoy the many sights of Yosemite Park, from the scenic vistas at Tunnel View to its world-famous waterfalls and giant sequoias. To get your bearings, start in Yosemite Village, which is the hub of action in the valley. You can grab Yosemite permits at the Wilderness Center, pick up some a Yosemite map at the Visitor Center, or learn more about the valley's history in the Yosemite Museum. The Valley Shuttle map of Yosemite includes a guide to popular sights, bike trails and campgrounds in Yosemite. The Ansel Adams Gallery has photography walks, classes and workshops. Many are free, and offered year-round. For the best Yosemite pictures, head out at sunrise or sunset, when a beautiful warm glow shines across the valley. No matter where you're standing, the Yosemite view is sure to be breathtaking. Some of the best California hiking is found here in Yosemite. In fact, the park is home to 840 miles of hiking trails, including the famous John Muir Trail. When backpacking or hiking Yosemite trails through the backcountry, be sure to get a wilderness permit. When hiking in Yosemite, you'll need a permit to hike the summit of Half Dome, which is 4733 feet and about 16 miles round trip. More adventurous souls can brave the 6-day climb to El Capitan, the largest granite monolith in the world at 3593 feet ...

Yosemite National Park Video Tour
Half Dome and El Capitan. Nevada and Bridal Veil Falls. These names conjure up so many different memories for the millions of people that have been lucky enough to visit Yosemite National Park. Come and explore some of the more well known of this park's unique features in this short video tour entitled 'Yosemite Wonders'. Director: Craig F. Skelly. Producer: Craig F. Skelly. Contact Information: craigskelly@yahoo.com. Creative Commons license: Attribution-NonCommercial For tens of thousands of years, humans have changed, and have been changed by, this place we now call Yosemite. The Ahwahneechee lived here for generations, followed by the arrival of Europeans in the mid-1800s. The rugged terrain challenged many early travelers, with just a few—only 650 from the mid-1850s to mid-1860s—making the journey to Yosemite Valley by horseback or stagecoach. By 1907, construction of the Yosemite Valley Railroad from Merced to El Portal eased the journey, thereby, increasing visitation. Today, 3.5 million people enter the parks gates to explore. We learn from the stories of those who walked Yosemites trails before us, allowing appreciation of their lasting footprints that led to conscious preservation. People: Seven present-day tribes descend from the people who first called this area home. As Europeans arrived in the mid-1800s, violent disruption ensued that displaced the native populations. Early white settlers arrived and hosted writers, artists, and photographers who spread the ...

Yosemite Range of Light
I am a destination visual artist who specializes in photography, timelapse cinematography, & filmmaking. I love to travel, so if you have a project in some far flung location, lets talk. Yosemite National Park, the High Sierra, and the Eastern Sierra are some of the most beautiful places on earth. Ever since I serendipitously won a trip to Yosemite when I was 18, the beautiful Range of Light has captured my heart and become my home. Nothing brings me more joy than to share this life changing beauty with others. Ever since I became fascinated with timelapse photography almost 2 years ago, after seeing the work of Tom Lowe, I've wanted to do a piece on Yosemite and the Sierra. Now after almost 2 years of shooting, I'm thrilled to share. I hope you enjoy my vision of my home, the majestic Yosemite & Sierra. Yosemite National Park Documentary - Part 1
Yosemite National Park (pronounced /joʊˈsɛmɨtiː/ yo-SEM-it-ee) is a national park located in the eastern portions of Tuolumne, Mariposa and Madera counties in east central California, United States. The park covers an area of 761266 acres or 1189 square miles (3081 km²) and reaches across the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain. Yosemite is visited by over 3.5 million people each year, many of whom only spend time in the seven square miles (18 km²) of Yosemite Valley. Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite is internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, Giant Sequoia groves, and biological diversity. Almost 95% of the park is designated wilderness. Although not the first designated national park, Yosemite was a focal point in the development of the national park idea, largely owing to the work of people like John Muir and Galen Clark. The Yosemite 2012 Photowalk
A group of Google+ photo enthusiasts met in Yosemite on January 1st, 2012, to celebrate the New Year and make photos. Here's some clips (not always in order) of that Photowalk). Here's the clips: 00:56 Thomas Hawk showing us his 8mm fisheye lens. He was shooting the roots of a giant sequoia redwood tree. 01:53 Trey Ratcliff goes "off trail" to make a photo of two fallen logs and we talk about how he "sees" in 3D, thanks to playing Quake. He also shows how he shoots in HDR, with seven images. Later he talks about the importance of putting something in the photo to show a sense of scale. 05:56 Thomas Hawk uses his 8mm fisheye to make weird images of me. By shooting my face literally a few inches away from his lens it gives a distorted view. 07:13 Tony Payne, who works for Google, says Happy New Year, before Thomas Hawk shows us his images that he made on New Year's morning at Glacier Point. Then Scott Jarvie talks about his images and the importance of getting up early in the morning to catch the best light. 10:09: Scott Kublin and Trey Ratcliff have a fun conversation about SEO (Scott helped Trey get better rankings on his website). This was while we were shooting at the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite. Later Dustin Best, who works for Smugmug (great photosharing service) explained how he got his job there. 17:01 Karen Hutton, who does voiceover (her voice is heard in Denver Airport's trains, in Las Vegas' elevators, jokes around with Trey (her voice is in Trey's iPad app ...
