Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2000 + DIY Steadycam + 0.45x Wide Angle Lens
This is a compilation of test runs with my Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2000 camcorder. The camera was fitted with a UV filter, an adaptor ring to take a 52mm macro lens and 0.45x wide angle lens. The self-made steadycam attached to the bottom of the camera needs more fine-tuning, but the result as shown in this video is already lightyears better than without any kind of stabilizing device. The original clips were shot in 1280x720p at 30fps. Compiling and re-rendering the clips with Corel VS Pro X3 into an MP4 file and uploading it onto Youtube reduced the quality dramatically. The Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD2000 is capable of 1920x1080p at 60fps.

www.canon.com.au Some other things I didn't mention: There's a 64GB internal HD, which can hold copious amounts of data, but on top of that, you can also add SD cards, which basically makes it unlimited. Some people don't like the mic placement because it's easy to hit with your finger (they say)...but I haven't found it to be a problem. Seems like you'd get used to it quickly enough, and I like the mic as it is. Maybe it's just in my head, but it seems like the audio comes in better with there being mics on each side of the wide lens casing. Any thoughts/comments/questions about the camera? Pop it in the comments! I'll do my best to get back to everyone. ^^

Sanyo Xacti CG10 review Part 1 of 2
Thanks for watching. (Part 1 of 2) Note: I did not use the CG10 to film the review. Oddly enough, it was from a "higher end" digital camera that does not capture in HD. The sample video clip as well as pictures [in part 2] were all taken with the Xacti CG10, however, being in a mixed video environment (with and without HD, I believe youtube converted it all into non HD.) Here are the pros and cons: PROS -Comprehensive printed manual included. -Outstanding 3.0" screen - which can be rotated up to 285 degrees. -Pretty decent CMOS sensor. -10 Mega pixel photos / 720 HD 1280x720 30 fps video clips. -Has 5x Optical Zoom with flash Similar in class models sometimes are only fixed focal length or less than 5x optical zoom. Plus you can zoom in during video shooting. -Good placement of the two microphones located on the back of the flip screen. -Marginally better low light performance vs. similar models in its class. -Relative low noise in images but I think you lose a little of the sharpness in photos. -Overall good color reproduction without over saturation. -Option to choose from simple to more detailed setup screens. -Can change the shortcuts keys to go to some of the popular options available. -Good amount of manual controls for a lot or users. -Good macro focus capability (less than ½). -Good amount of features for the price point. -Lets not forget the cool factor. CONS -Slightly heavier and bulkier than some models in the same class. -Not a CCD sensor. But for the intended ...
Sanyo Xacti HD700 with CHEAP wide angle adapter II
Just received the Phoenix 0.45x magnetic add-on lens to replace the 0.5x I broke. I went out to test it and this is a sampling of the results. Can't believe how small it is compared to the other one I rigged up. Image quality looks better, too. Full range zoom with the lens on as well as close focusing. Nice.
