An intricate hand-cranked machine made entirely of wood and glue (no metal or other materials). It was designed and built by my friend Del, using many different woods and incorporating a variety of mechanical motions. The Wooden Birds "Two Matchsticks"
The first video for the second full-length by The Wooden Birds, led by Andrew Kenny (American Analog Set, Broken Social Scene). In creating Two Matchsticks, the band drew on the strengths of their live show, making it more driven, upbeat and fuller than the Birds' previous efforts. The album also features Wooden Birds members Leslie Sisson and Matt Pond who, in addition to singing backing vocals on the album, sing lead and duet with Kenny on some of the album's most memorable songs. How to Make a Wooden Butterfly Knife (Balisong)
In this video, I will show you how to make a wooden butterfly knife, or Balisong. Since these wooden knives have now real blade, they are excellent trainer knives, and are great for beginners. Project difficulty: 4/10 (1=Easy and quick, 10=Very advanced and difficult. May take a while.) *Warning: This project uses power tools and other sharp objects. Follow proper safety requirements and most of all, use common sense. Also, although the blade is not sharp and cannot cut you, it can still be very pointy. Treat it like a real blade.* (Note: I sped up the video by 3% to fit the timeframe, but it is very unnoticeable. Also, the mic that I used was bad quality, so sorry for the bad audio.) Please never attempt to film on an actual railroad which is in regular use as this poses an extreme risk to personal safety. Thomas the Tank Engine started his life on the Island of Sodor as a cheeky little engine who shunted coaches for the Main Line engines, such as Henry and Gordon. He liked to play tricks on them, including Gordon, "the biggest and proudest engine of all". He was taught a lesson when Gordon tricked him into being coupled to him during his Express run. Tired out, he swore never to tease Gordon again, realizing he did not have to to be important. Soon, he desired to pull his own passenger train too, much to the bemusement of the other engines. He got his chance when Henry became ill and no one could pull the passenger train. However, Thomas was so excited that he accidentally left his train and his passengers behind, believing he was pulling it easily. He soon realized his mistake and returned to pull the train. The engines laughed at him, though, and soon Thomas wanted to get out of the shunting yards and see the world. Edward offered him a chance to pull trucks, and Thomas excitedly took the job ...

The trio's first album, Crosby, Stills, & Nash, was released in May 1969 and was an immediate hit, spawning two Top 40 hit singles.
