This video shows the use of Native Instruments' MASSIVE synthesizer, which shifted the paradigm for software synthesis development in late 2006. MASSIVE's fat, analog sound is unique to the soft-synth world, offering a wide scope of sound design possibilities. But underneath all that, is an extremely simple-to-use, great sounding engine, that can provide some of the baddest bass tones you've ever heard. Check out the video, and the patches that are linked through the site below. http Notes on the patches: Wobble 1- This is a basic demonstration of the ideas seen in the video. One oscillator, one filter, one LFO. very basic. Wobble 2- This is the patch that was created in the video. You have a the dual-oscillator setup, using the same wavetable and settings, one is simply pitched an octave down. Try putting an LFO on the pitch of one of the oscillators, but only modulate the pitch by .10 or .15 of a half step. This will give a thicker and different feel to the sound. Wobble 3- This is an example that has been used in one of The Synthesist's tracks previously. Its an example of experimentation with the LFO, applied to the Ring Modulator in addition to the Filter's Frequency Cutoff. Try applying an LFO to the Phase knob in the Modulation Oscillator. Dubstep Wobble Bass Speed Tutorial (FL Studio)
In this video I show you a nice method for how to change the speed of a wobble bass in FL Studio. Make an automation clip for every speed you plan to use in your song. I'm using Sytrus in the tutorial, but you can use this with any VST, but remember, the knob values will probably be different for different Plugins. And if you are using a different vst, you may have to go Tools-Last Tweaked-Copy value then paste that into the X Level on the XY Controller. And Tools-Last Tweaked-Link To Controller to link it to the XY Mod. And of course if you want to make gradual changes to the wobble bass speed instead of imediate changes like in this video, you will have to use an automation clip... but you can combine this method with automation clips just fine. Ableton Live Tutorial: Dubstep Talking Wobble Bass w/ Operator
blog.dubspot.com Ableton Certified Trainer and Dubspot Instructor Michael Hatsis aka !banginclude explains how to make 'dubstep talking wobble bass' in Ableton Live using Operator (If you don't already own Operator, check out the tutorial video Dubstep Wobble Bass Part 1 in which Hatsis used the sampler to create the mid-range bass sound and load up that preset.) Starting with the Operator sound he created in the previous video tutorial Dubstep Wobble Bass Part 2, and using the patch as a launching point, he turns off Operators B, C, and D and keeps Operator A on a square-wave, sets the LFO rate to a 1/2 a bar, and switch up the Filter resonance to 5, which gives us a somewhat mild whomp bass sound. To add the talking effect, Hatsis used Ableton Live device Redux effect to bring the sample-rate down a few levels, set the Downsample to Hard, somewhere between 15 to 24 to get the talking sound. As the LFO sweeps through the Filter's frequency, the Redux adds a vocal effect to the wobble, and as you increase the value of the Downsample, the deeper and heavier the voice gets; as you decrease, the voice gets lighter. The technique known as "digital downsampling." Hatsis returns Operator to add a little FM/make the sound grittier by turning on Operator B. Be aware of the odd effects, as the Redux plugin enhances the grittiness of the FM. Furthermore, Hatsis demonstrates other effects within Operator including Coarse value, LFO rate, and Filter settings and options, frequencies ...

*UPDATE**I have experienced the death wobble and managed to pull out of it. Some lady pulled out in front of me and I had to brake hard and maneuver. As I did, my bike went into a wobble. I instinctively let off the brake and loosened my grip on the bars and the bike came out of it. Only lasted a few moments and scared the crap out of me! Thanks to everyone for your comments!*** The notorious death wobble. What is it exactly? Have you ever experienced it? If so, what was your experience? I talk about a guy in the Phoenix area that was nearly killed after riding his Harley and experiencing the death wobble.
