Rode Deadcat vs Micover Windscreen - DSLR FILM NOOB

Up for comparison today is the official Rode DeadCat windscreen and the unofficial Micover windscreen. The first is $40 while the second is around $20. As you listen to each audio track it's pretty easy to hear which windscreen does better. The Micover windscreen blows the Rode Deadcat out of the water. It started raining shortly after filming this, so I didn't have a chance to re shoot and i'm not going to go back out in the cold. How to make a DIY $1 wind screen for camp stoves
An instructional video on making your own DIY wind screen for your camp stoves. I've used this with alcohol, white gas, wood, propane and butane stoves and I've found it works well. The wind screen takes less than 15 minutes to make and costs about $1.00. It uses a standard foil oven liner sheet, disposable cookie sheet or other reasonably large, reasonably thick and flexible aluminium sheet plus some strong yet flexible wire to hold the screen's form.

Even the high pressure butane/propane and whitegas stoves sometimes need a windscreen to help keep the flame alive and in place under you cook pot. Hope you enjoy : ) Second outing with my new Panasonic TM 700. This camera makes me happy. It shoots cleaner prettier wide angles then my hacked GH1 or my Canon 5D2... I have to do a side by side comparison to the GH1 and 5D2 for Medium shots or close ups but will soon. As of this writing it's one of I believe two cameras you can get for under $1000 that can do 1920X1080 at 60p! I got it for this purpose alone but was pleasantly surprised when I saw the images the cam can make. The sounds of the waves and foley stuffs were made using the Zoom H4n digital audio recorder paired with a Redhead Windscreen for happy sound. Editing was done in Premiere on a 24p timeline. Clips were slowed to 40% which created the proper ratio of smooth slowdown and very minimal color correction was done, ( just a bit of levels play and my usual addition mild amounts of noise )..hey, I like noise : ) Music is from planet earth soundtrack. Mahalo for watching-
