Earth Wind And Fire - Im The Stone(1979) From The Album: Am I Born in Memphis, Maurice White attended Tennessee State University, where he was a member of the school's marching band. He moved to Chicago, Illinois and began his music career as a session drummer for Chess Records. Around 1966 he became the drummer for The Ramsey Lewis Trio. In 1969 Maurice left The Ramsey Lewis Trio, and joined two friends, Wade Flemons and Don Whitehead, to form a songwriting team which wrote songs for commercials in the Chicago area. The three friends got a recording contract with Capitol Records, and called themselves The Salty Peppers; they had a marginal hit in the Midwestern area with their single "La La Time". The Salty Peppers' second single, "Uh Huh Yeah", didn't fare as well, and Maurice decided it was time for a change of location, and a change in the band's name, which became Earth, Wind & Fire. [edit] Earth, Wind & Fire White moved the band to Los Angeles in 1970, and added a number of new members, making the band a ten-piece. Two of White's brothers joined at this time: bassist Verdine and drummer Fred. They experienced success with fifteen hit singles and twenty-six gold and platinum albums. Maurice White is responsible for incorporating the sound of the kalimba (a thumb piano of African origin) and the Phoenix Horns (comprised of Louis Satterfield, Rahmlee Michael Davis, Michael Harris and Don Myrick) into the music of Earth, Wind & Fire. Taken from his 1974 album "Sun Godess" ft Maurice White of Earth Wind & Fire. Ramsey Emmanuel Lewis, Jr. (born in Chicago, Illinois May 27, 1935) is an American jazz icon, composer, pianist and radio personality. He has been referred to as "the great performer", a title reflecting his performance style and musical selections which display his early gospel playing and classical training (Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, etc.) along with his love of jazz and other musical forms. Ramsey Lewis has recorded over 80 albums and has received five gold records and three Grammy Awards. Sun Godess: After his classic acoustic albums in the 1960s, Ramsey Lewis wanted to head into a new direction in his music. He reunited with Maurice White who at that time was with his own band, Earth, Wind & Fire.

Octodomes Ping Pong and Fire at the beach: A Lighting Tutorial
By Jay P. Morgan We had the opportunity to shoot promotional materials of Cui Baoqun, a national Chinese champion ping-pong player, for a television sow called King Pong. He is incredible to watch play and a very nice guy. We shot at a Malibu beach location and applied, to this shoot, some of the information that we learned about Octodomes in our last lesson. We needed both Video for the promo reel and some stills for the advertising pieces. The one thing you can be certain about on location is wind, and wind we got! It was terrible at first, and we could not even use the Glidecam. Fortunately, with time, it subsided, and we were ok. I'm glad we had Dynalite packs because they were light and easy to move around. At one point, the tide came in so fast that we almost lost the table and the power packs. It was an interesting day. We shot with wind, water, and sand, and we threw in a little fire at the end of the day. It was the last shot and seemed the appropriate thing to do—light the table on fire. It was a great day.
