Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote
Using the infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), you can accurately track the location of your head and render view dependent images on the screen. This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a virtual environment. The display properly reacts to head and body movement as if it were a real window creating a realistic illusion of depth and space. By Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. Wiimote as a mouse
Yep, we finally figured out how the darn IR camera works. It's just a quick hack, but I've written a program to take the data from the Wiimote, filter it a bit, and emulate a mouse. It's actually quite a decent input device, although I recommend using big icons. I've demonstrated a few simple activities with it. Buttons on the Wiimote map to mouse buttons and scroll wheel. Of course, the sensor bar has to be on for this to work (make your own, as documented in many places, or just power yours off your Wii as I use here) I'm working on a full-blown Linux driver with support for every feature known, multiple clients, and a lot more (with no ugly hacks). See you soon with the next video! Update: Check wiibrew.org out for the actual technical information on how all this works!

Laser Harp with WiiMote
www.stephenhobley.com Finally got the chance to complete the WiiMote extension to the Laser Harp. The WiiMote front sensor has been modified to track 532nm light, rather than the normal IR. Software on the PC converts the information from the WiiMote into MIDI controller data - this is merged (using MIDIOX and MIDI-Yoke) with the trigger pulses coming from the harp and fed to the impOSCar synth. It solved a whole heap of problems I was having with the analog sensor on the harp, at the cost of having to include some software on the PC. Eventually it should be possible to wire the Arduino MPU in the harp directly into the I2C bus that the PixArt WiiMote sensor is connected to. This would bypass the Bluetooth and PC altogether.

Die by the Sword - Wiimote VSIM
You can play DbtS with Wiimote. It's REAL VSIM. Great, DbtS has got an appropriate device after a decade. Things you need are: - wiimote - bluetooth dongle - sensor bar - PPJoy - GlovePIE The script used in this video is here, though now it can use Nunchuk, too. blog.livedoor.jp There is much infomation about how to use wiimote on PC so search it. In this video, the sensor bar can't be seen but it's on the wall in front of my right arm. The distance between wiimote and sensor bar is 1m, and the width of sensor bar is 10 cm. I guess Nintendo's sensor bar is kinda big if you use wiimote at your desk because there is a right ratio of the width of sensor bar and the distance between of sensor bar and wiimote. Well, wiimote VSIM works to use wiimote IR as joystick input and it's absolute control. So when you move the wiimote upper left, the sword moves upper left together as you hit 7 in keypad VSIM. The difference between wiimote VSIM and keypad VSIM is the former can handle analog input and you can move the sword slowly or fast anywhere as you like and the latter handles digital input. If you play/played this game and know it has great potential, you won't be disappointed about the feeling of this control. The GlovePIE script used is based on Joystick-Mouse.PIE in WiimoteScripts folder. It supports emulation of joystick and mouse. You can switch it to hit wiimote 1 and 2 button. I recomend you to set all of wiimote keys as any of keyboard keys because DbtS seems recognize ...
Classic Game Room - Wii REMOTE PLUS controller review
Classic Game Room reviews the Wii REMOTE PLUS controller for Nintendo Wii, the "new" Wiimote which condenses the Wii Motion Plus by just adding Wii Motion Plus capability into a controller which is the same size as a regular Wiimote. No longer do you have to snap on the irritating and somewhat bulky Wii Motion Plus device to the back of your controller, now you just use a controller with it built in! Shouldn't it have been made like this originally? Wii Remote Plus can be purchased as a standalong controller or bought with the Fling Smash game in a box set. It works for all Wii games where the standard Wiimote works, it works with Nunchuk and Classic Controller and Wii Remote Plus fears nobody. This video review of Nintendo Wii Remote Plus shows the black Wii Remote Plus from the Fling Smash game for Nintendo Wii.

Wiimote Presenter
Visit jasonlpsmith.googlepages.com to download the program or source code. This program was developed for the Wiimote (Nintendo Wii remote controller) with a PC for use with PowerPoint presentations, timing, mouse control, media control and can be used with one or two screens. You will need - PC with MS Windows - Microsoft .NET 3.5 - Bluetooth (it must be compatible with the Wiimote) - Infrared source (lit candle or IR LED, only required for pointer function) I had set the B button to enable momentary mouse control. In the video the wiimote infrared camera only controls the mouse while I am pressing the B button. Getting your Wiimote to connect to your PC can be difficult with different PCs. My Samsung X25 laptop (with built in bluetooth) had no problems, other bluetooth interfaces are different. If it doesn't work for you please try a Google search for "connect wiimote PC". There is plenty of information out there about connecting a wiimote to a PC, but it may not be a simple process. I don't actually own any gaming console, I just purchased the handheld controller after seeing what it can do in Johnny Lee's impressive video. If you find any bugs, please give a detailed description so it can be fixed. To run the program, extract the zip file and run the file WiimotePresenter.exe. You will need .NET 3.5 and a compatible Bluetooth connection.

How to use the Wiimote with Dolphin the Wii Emulator (720p HD)
Please watch this video in HD mode. In order to have the Bluetooth adapter be recognized in Windows, you must have XP with the latest service pack, Vista with the latest service pack or Windows 7. The process is pretty much the same between the three of them. Make sure that "Use real Wiimote" and "Connect real Wiimote" (along with any other preferred settings) are selected by clicking on the "Wiimote" button in Dolphin. They are usually "On" by default. To be able to show you the Wiimote (and my hands) I had to stick them out pretty far - as if I were driving a big rig, so you could say that I am fully aware of how goofy my hand movements look. I am just glad it turned up as well as it did. :D

Call of Duty FPS on Kinect Hack (FAAST) with Wiimote (GlovePIE)
As far as I'm aware this is the first real playable fps which uses kinect gestures. My objective with call of duty was to get a playable experience - difficult considering the precise movements needed and the fact COD was never designed to be played like this! At the moment FAAST just activates simple button presses, whilst you could use this for movement and looking about please see my other videos for why this isn't so hot for fast, precise movement. For these reasons normal walking is done with a chuck and a Wii remote was used to get the precision aiming - though I stuggled to find an IR script that works nicely (this is using the gyro's in the wii instead). If anyone has a good working IR FPS script for GlovePie please send me through a link! Bonuses of using kinect on an FPS is the ability to lean, duck, pick up, reload and stab realistically, cool huh? You can play this sat down as well ;) This is only a basic start to true gaming with kinect, who knows what the clever hacker community will come up with next? This Hack uses FAAST, OpenNi/Nite and GlovePIE to bring COD to Kinect, WiiMote and Windows 7! Check out the Doom www.youtube.com and Zelda snes kinect hacks if you haven't already www.youtube.com Check out FAAST if you want to get hooked up with some gameing action. Max Payne on Kinect Hack (FAAST) using a Wiimote (GlovePIE)
This is one of the games I wanted to do from day one, I hope you agree that the control method genuinely enhances an already amazing game. I'm not sure if it comes across in the video but this is really fun and works pretty darn well. After the SNES trials I turned straight to Max Payne, but due to FAAST not currently sending low level key presses I was stumped. I managed to find a solution in using the remapping feature of AutoHotKey which has allowed this to work. Future versions of FAAST will negate the need for running this extra script. As you can see, the leaning left and right stuff is all there - and moving your body forward and backs moves you back and forwards. The reload and interact gestures are becoming pretty standard for me now, and pain killers are popped with an upward motion of the left hand. What makes this special though is the leg movements that activate bullet time. The result is bullet time diving for real! When this game hit just after the Matrix film came out it caused a big stir - with kinect augmentation it gets even better. The GlovePie script has been improved to allow better aiming as you'll see and in conclusion I think I'm going to spend a few days actually playing through one of my favourite games of all time in a brand new way. I actually forgot how hard this game was, with the serious scarcity of ammo, variance in weapon dynamics, your fragility and low movement speed combining into a high pressured shoot out. The augments don't make ...
