VEENDAM - BV Veendam heeft vrijdagavond de thuiswedstrijd tegen Almere City FC met maar liefst 5-1 gewonnen. Doelpuntenmakers waren Anco Jansen, Angelo Cijntje, Haaije Feenstra en Michael de Leeuw (2 keer). In het begin van de wedstrijd aan de Langeleegte leek het algauw een makkie te worden voor de Veendammers. In de 14e minuut viel de openingstreffer; Lars Lambooij legde de bal vanaf rechts in het doelgebied, waar Jansen vrij kon inschieten. Nog geen tien minuten later viel de 2-0. Angelo Cijntje stoof naar voren en legde de bal in de voeten van Michael de Leeuw, die tikte hem keurig tussen een Almere-verdediger en zijn doelman Peristeridis door. Een kwartier na rust werd het toch 2-1 voor Almere, toen invaller Iwan Redan vanuit een corner kon binnenkoppen. De vreugde bij het Almere-vak was van korte duur; in de 64e minuut maakte Angelo Cijntje zich de bal meester en sloot een solo schitterend af met een bal in het dak van de goal. Vijf minuten later maakte De Leeuw op aangeven van Kolder de 4-1. In de 73e minuut maakte Haaije Feenstra het feestje compleet met de vijfde goal voor de Veendammers. Met nog ruim tien minuten te spelen haalde Almeerder Dion Malone met een gestrekt been invaller Milan Malenovic onderuit. Daarvoor trok scheidsrechter Jeroen Abbink rood en speelde Veendam de rest van de wedstrijd tegen tien man. Toch bleef het 5-1, ondanks een paar kansen voor Veendam.
