Roger Waters - The wall Live in Berlin part 1-11
The Wall, Live In Berlin was filmed at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin, Germany on July 21, 1990. Potsdamer Platz was the "no man's land" that sat between the two Berlin walls which separated East from West. By the time of the concert, 250000 tickets had been sold in advance and over 50 countries had signed on to broadcast the concert live. For fear of riots and injury, the concert gates eventually had to be taken down letting in an extra 100000 people for free. The concert would also serve as a benefit for The Memorial Fund for Disaster Relief. The opening sequence showing the enormous stage, the massive white wall, already 3/4 built, and the vast sea of people was quite awe-inspiring. For the opening number, "In The Flesh," the Scorpions are delivered to the stage (which is basically a two lane highway) via a white, stretch limo. What better band to open the show than Germany's own Scorpions, who were still one of the biggest metal bands on the planet in 1990. From there, it is a non-stop appearance of musicians and actors who were brought in to sing the songs, and act out the parts. This was more of a grand theater production, on the grandest of scales, than an actual rock concert. Roger Waters - The Wall @ Gelredome - Arnhem, Holland 8-4-2011 - Full Show Pt 1
This is the first of two parts of the Roger Waters concert The Wall. Performed in the Gelredome, Arnhem, The Netherlands on April 8th 2011. I filmed the complete show. My position is on the front rail (in golden circle) on the right side. Being at the side, sometimes some views are partially blocked, but I tried to capture it as best I could and all in all I'm quite happy with the end result. I used a Panasonic DMC-TZ7. Being a pocketcamera in can only film 15 minutes max at a time. So sometimes a few seconds are missing which is me stopping and starting again. As for the show, it rocks big time! Roger really outdid himself with this one. Music topnotch as usual, but the projections are also of the highest technical quality and its almost a piece of art. Props to the creators. Notice how projection is so precise that it only starts projecting on a brick when it is placed by the builders. Everything is in there, The teacher, mother & wife puppets, a flying pig, fireworks, amazing projection and Roger fisty as ever. I respect the man who is still so passionate after some 5 decades of performing and playing\creating music. On a personal note, for me it's a dream come true. I've been to my fair share of big concerts, but The Wall was always the mythical concert from way back, which I could only enjoy in audio or video. "The Bad World Tour" was the first world concert tour by Michael Jackson as a solo artist, covering Japan, Australia, United States and Europe from September 12, 1987 to January 27, 1989. The tour, sponsored by PepsiCo and spanning 16 months, included 123 concerts to 4.4 million fans across 15 countries. When the tour concluded it grossed a total of $125 million, adding two new entries in the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest grossing tour in history and the tour with the largest attended audience. In the United States alone, where just 54 concerts were held, the tour came in as the 6th largest grossing tour from 1988-89, grossing a total of $20.3 million. In April 1989, the tour was nominated for "Tour of the Year 1988" at the inaugural International Rock Awards. The tour lost to Amnesty International, but nothing could detract from the fact that Jackson's first solo tour was the largest and most successful in history. At every concert (at least in the United States) Jackson made sure that 400 tickets were reserved for underprivileged children.
