German clashes: May Day rallies turn violent in Berlin

Left wing protesters clashed with police in Berlin as a traditional May Day demonstration came to a halt far before reaching its intended end in the city center. Some demonstrators threw stones, bottles and firecrackers at the riot police, and officers responded with charges and batons. Arrests were made. The thousands strong demonstration had set off late on Tuesday afternoon from Berlin's neighborhood of Kreuzberg. Meanwhile in Hamburg, over one-thousand leftist activists gathered for the annual May Day protest march, local media reported. The demonstration - themed "No Alternative to Revolution" - saw protesters marching from St. Pauli to Ottensen. Right at the start, protesters threw fireworks at police officers, but the crowd remained mostly calm for the ensuing march. However, after a speech marking the end of the demonstration, violence erupted. Stones and bottles were thrown at the policemen escorting the march. Police responded employing pepper spray and arresting several protesters. Injuries were reported on both sides. Later on, riots broke out in Hamburg's Schanzenviertel neighborhood, a notorious site for May Day violence in past years. RT on Twitter twitter.com RT on Facebook www.facebook.com

Video: Violence erupts at 'illegal' student protest in Canada

Week-long demonstrations over a proposed rise in university tuition fees have erupted into violence in Quebec. Police in Montreal clashed with thousands of students who accuse the government of sabotaging negotiations for a settlement. Riot police have so far arrested 85 people after a government exclusion of a student group from talks triggered activist ire. Students have flooded Montreal's streets over the past few days, up in arms over tuition fee hikes that would see costs rise by 75 percent over the next five years. Thursday's riots were declared illegal after demonstrators reportedly pelted police officers with projectiles and threw garbage into the streets. NHL playoff violence: fights, hits mar hockey playoffs

SUBSCRIBE to Next Media Animation: www.youtube.com Violence is up in this year's Stanley Cup playoffs — and so are ratings. NHL head of player safety Brendan Shanahan has doled out nine suspensions this postseason, already twice as many compared with the entire 2011 postseason. The NHL has become more aware of the long-term effects of head injuries sustained by hockey players. But after taking a tough stand against nasty fights and dirty hits at the beginning of the 2011-2012 season, Shanahan has been inconsistent in disciplining players. Some say it's because NHL owners don't want him to. Facebook: www.facebook.com Webpage: www.nma.tv Twitter @nmatv: twitter.com Tumblr: nmatv.tumblr.com In the most egregious incident in this year's NHL playoffs, Phoenix Coyotes winger Raffi Torres has been suspended indefinitely for a brutal head shot on Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa. Torres faces a disciplinary hearing with the player safety committee today in New York, and the Blackhawks want Shanahan to throw the book at him. It's a chance for Shanahan to reign in the violence. Will he send a strong signal, or will he allow the violence in professional hockey to continue to spin out of control?

Shocking Video: Syrian opposition violence

Torture, booby-trapped cars, machine-guns shooting in the air -- RT has come into the possession of a video that deals with episodes of the day-to-day life of members of the Syrian opposition. It shows members of the opposition wielding various weaponry -- from sickles to pump-action shotguns -- and using it, as well as some results of their actions. Parts of it contain too much violence to be reproduced for an unprepared audience, the rest is available to demonstrate the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe Syria is dealing with. Meanwhile, Russia has declared its readiness to continue working on a new resolution on Syria and expects two delegations of the Syrian opposition to visit Moscow for negotiations in October. While a massive group of Western countries last week proposed two resolutions, both of which included sanctions against current President Bashar al-Assad's regime if violence against the opposition continues, Russia and China opposed any kind of sanctions. Russia has condemned the Western resolutions as being designed to force a regime change in Syria, which, according to numerous statements made by Russia's Foreign Ministry, will only encourage violence. Mom Violence at Critical Mass

In the wake of the incident of motorist violence at San Francisco Critical Mass on Friday, March 30, 2007, this video is presented as a counterpoint to the gross misrepresentation in much of the Bay Area media. The hype began with a gossip column in the SF Chronicle. The side of the story which hasn't been told: a mother in a minivan reportedly endangered her children and the demonstrators by crashing through the Critical Mass in San Francisco. She struck one cyclist, who repotedly flew 4-5 feet, and crushed the cyclist's bicycle underwheel. She then fled the scene (hit and run). Cyclists chased and detained the motorist. One cyclist reportedly erred in throwing a bicycle at the rear of the van, which had tinted windows. None of the children inside, who were not visible, were injured. There were no further acts of agression in response to the attack. The police failed to arrest the driver, wihch is all too common in the everyday mistreatments of bicyclists, and particularly true at Critical Mass. The attached video shows a parallel event, in which a mother terrifies her child, jumps a curb to attack, strikes a cyclist (a cancer victim, incidentally, and partially disabled), traps his foot underwheel, then pushes through and crushes the bicycle. A police lieutenant failed to respond immediately after (audio problems need to be corrected, but you can see the cyclists are asking for justice). The full video shows that there was a police helicopter and police stationed at ...

"The song is really just about people getting up to no good and doing things that are regarded as wicked or 'naughty' but instead of feeling guilty about it, they embrace it. Her performance, our music and the director's great understanding of the music, in our opinion, was captured perfectly in true rock 'n roll bliss and embodies everything the song stands for and is about!" Violent Video Games

Video games sterilize and reward virtual mass killings, which are absolutely nothing like actual mass killings, but they do the following things: 1. Teach you that killing is okay as long as it's your (country's) enemy 2. Sterilize and redefine killing into something that has no intensity 3. Bridge the gap between fake and real killing for people who ALREADY have trouble differentiating between the fake and the real psychologically 4. Prey upon kids susceptible to war propaganda who are also affected by what I described in Point #3 Also, $5 for coffee is lame. New Starbucks frappuccino flavor was good, but not that good. I should have stuck with caramel. Feeling a strong 5 to a light 6 on this one.

Homeless Men Help Cop Subdue Violent Thief

Three homeless men helped a Broward Sheriff's officer subdue a suspect in a Pompano Beach McDonald's after a violent scuffle. Patrick Davis, 27, tried to steal another man's backpack on Saturday around 8 am, police say. When Deputy Kevin Meyer arrived, Davis was trying to exit the restaurant with a metal rod in his hand. But when Meyer attempted to handcuff Davis, Davis lifted the deputy on his shoulder and flipped him on his back with what Meyer described as "super strength," according to BSO officials. The deputy's glasses were knocked off, his radio microphone came off, and his handcuffs fell on the floor. Peter Finch, Jose Ramos, and Carmello Maldonade, three homeless men who were inside the McDonald's, came to Meyer's aid. Finch grabbed Davis' feet and Ramos helped hold him down while Meyer was able to cuff and secure Davis. But Davis still wasn't done resisting: once inside the police car, he kicked out the window and tried to escape. Davis is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, obstruction with violence, criminal mischief, depriving an officer of means of communication, attempted escape, and robbery with a weapon because of the metal rod he was carrying. He is being held without bond in Broward County Jail on the charges above and two outstanding cocaine offenses. Authorities said Meyer sustained bruised ribs and other minor injuries.

Violent clashes between Chicago police and anti-NATO protesters (RAW VIDEO)

Video courtesy LeakSource2012 www.youtube.com At least 12 people were injured and 60 arrested on Sunday in Chicago after protesters clashed with police when thousands of activists took part in anti-NATO demonstrations. The riots began when the protesters tried to force their way through a police line to the site of the meeting. Protesters allegedly threw plastic bottles and paint balloons at the police, who fought back against them with batons and riot gear. Police estimated the crowd on Sunday to be 2500 to 3000, though it appears that many more turned out onto the streets of the city to voice their opposition to NATO's costly and deadly wars. Iraq and Afghanistan veterans also took part in the protests, throwing their medals towards the convention center where the delegates were meeting. They said the medals they were given do not represent the wars they were fighting.

'Police violence' at Malaysia reform rally Bersih 3.0

Thousands of demonstrators demanding free and fair elections met with tear gas and water cannon in capital Kuala Lumpur. Malaysian riot police have fired tear gas and used water cannon on a crowd of demonstrators who staged one of the country's largest street rallies in years, demanding fair rules for national elections expected soon. At least 25000 demonstrators swamped Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, hoping to pressure Prime Minister Najib Razak's ruling coalition - which has held power for nearly 55 years - to overhaul electoral policies before polls that could be held as early as June. Authorities insist the elections will be free and fair, rejecting activists' claims that the Election Commission is biased and that voter registration lists are tainted with fraudulent names. Demonstrators wearing yellow T-shirts, waving banners and chanting slogans poured into downtown Kuala Lumpur, massing near the city's historic Merdeka (Independence) Square that police had sealed off with barbed wire and barricades. Authorities had refused to allow Bersih, or Coalition for Free and Fair Elections - the opposition-backed pressure group that organised the rally - to use the square, a nationally renowned venue that hosts parades and patriotic celebrations. The demonstration remained peaceful for several hours, prompting organisers to declare it a success and ask people to head home. But when a small group appeared to suddenly breach the police barriers, authorities began ...

#OccupyWallStreet: Man assaulted, hidden from Press, denied lawyer. 10.14.11

Occupy Wall St March of 14.10.11. At apx 6:30 am, it was announced in the General Assembly (GA) that Brookfield Properties was not going to force an eviction under the guise of "park-cleaning". Around 7:30 or so, the pent-up energy of the hundreds of protestors packed cheek to jowl exploded into two unscheduled and, as usual, unpermitted marches: one going north on Broadway, the other going south. This is footage from the south-bound march. In front of 33 Beaver St, the protestors, fed up from harassment eariler in the day, and being chased and herded by a phalanx of cop-cycles, decided to turn in protest and stand their ground. There were a good many hot-heads on both sides. As you can see, a few protestors pushed the cycles, resulting in escalation which suddenly resulted in a rush-attack by the police. Key points to notice here: 1) The protestor who you can see getting arrested is mostly passive. 2) The aggressiveness of the protestors in no way justifies the brutality seen here and in later clashes. 3) The Press is denied access to view and record the beating, arrest, and handling of this protestor. indeed, they are chased off with night-sticks. 4) The (green-hat) member of the lawyers guild was denied access to protect her client. Two boys, ages 10 and 12, were hit by stray bullets near government checkpoints on Friday in Homs, Syria's third-largest city and a hotbed of opposition to the regime, according to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Activists dubbed Friday the day of the "Dignity Strike" and had hoped to stage a mass display of civil disobedience. There were also reports of violence and arrests in Aleppo and Damascus, the capital. Rula Amin reports.
