Satriani started playing guitar because of hendrix.His phrasing, and his tone is very similar sometimes. Watch 0:35 - 1:20 hendrix all the way!Satriani uses a lot of blues licks and transpose them to their respective adjacent higher strings.

I just listen a lot to Hendrix but not that much to Satriani.But as I watched the first minute of this video, it just sounded like Hendrix to me.
