Mar 1, 2012 - The reason he did these recordings is Jimi was under contract with Ed Chaplin for 3 years starting in 1965. Ok, then about a year later Jimi signed with Chas Chandler and Track Records, not telling them he was already under contract. Ed Chaplin found out, and sued. Jimi went and tried to make things right by quickly recording an album with Knight. It didn't work, and finally they settled on making a live album to give to Capitol records, Band of Gypsys.
