May 1, 2012 - Both 'Viva La Vida' and 'If I Could Fly' are similar to Cat Steven's 'Foreigner Suite' from 1973's 'Foreigner' album... so does that mean Satch nicked his song from Stevens? For starters, it's not a singularly unique chord progression, the songs are in different keys, one opens on a major whereas the other on a minor chord, and the tempo is different (yes, 'Viva La Vida' is sped up in this video). Beyond that... do you really think Coldplay listens to Satriani? Nick Drake is less obscure.

May 27, 2012 - Why does Viva la Vida sounds like it's played on a higher pitch to match Satriani's guitar? Show it how it really is. I enjoy both artists, they're both amazing imo. Yeah the songs are similar. I guess only Coldplay knows the real answer as to whether they copied or not. It doesn't change my mind, i'm still going to listen to and enjoy both performers music. P.S.
