Feb 21, 2012 - my first Genesis concert was this 1976 tour. I wish I could go back to it.A theater that seated about 1600, Steve Hackett sat through most of the set as he was prone to do, nothing better young friend, nothing better.

Apr 20, 2012 - Or locked into a room for 24 hours with the Foxtrot album looping.

Apr 21, 2012 - Steve Hackett is great & a much more original artist but Steurmer was an ass-kicking technical guitarist of the highest order in the 1970s & early 80s. Listen to the albums "Aurora" and "Enigmatic Ocean" by Jean-Luc Ponty, they both feature Stuermer before Genesis. "Enigmatic Ocean" also features Allan Holdsworth who played with Bill Bruford in both UK & The Bruford Band right after Bruford finished this Genesis tour.

Apr 21, 2012 - The version of this tune on "Seconds Out" blasted out of good old school stereo system with a powerful amp of a minimum of 200 clean watts is just about the most satisfying 1970s concert experience possible. Way better than any surround sound digital sterility. When those bass pedals kick in at the end, it's a rush to the head that could only have been created in the unique zeitgeist of the mid 70s, the last growl of the dinosaur bands.

Apr 30, 2012 - I would not punish my ears, or spend one cent on Invisible Touch nonsense.

ynndecote Says:

Apr 30, 2012 - Michael Rutherford has one HELL of a stage presence!

metamorphosis67 Says:

May 20, 2012 - You're not kidding! Blast this at maximum volume out of stereo tower speakers (Polk RTi12's or better) with a minimum 200 watts clean amplifier power (Bryston or better) & you'll be blasted out of your seat without mercy like a bomb just hit your room. I played this back-to-back with Hawkwind's "Space Ritual" Live with Lemmy singing & playing bass & the loud parts of Genesis blow Hawkwind out of the water !"Starless & Bible Black" when Wetton's overdriven bass kicks in is another monster.

metamorphosis67 Says:

May 20, 2012 - He looks a lot more hippie than he ever was. I don't think he ever took advantage of his rock-star status to bang lots of women in many different cities the way Robert Fripp did. Fripp had booty-calls set up in every city he toured often. Peter Gabriel had lots of groupies even in the very early days of Genesis when they were broke & barely making it but he was too much of an awkward shy geek to capitalize on his rock-star status & become a nova-casanova, he just got married to one of them.

metamorphosis67 Says:

May 20, 2012 - But he's still afraid not to tuck his shirt in ! Not very hipster of him to tuck his t-shirt in his pants. Habits die hard. Could Rutherford ever imagine idiots walking around with their boxers hanging out of their baggy pants ? A guy that tucks his T-shirt in his pants would have killed himself if he could see the future.
