Apr 11, 2012 - I felt my criticism was a little harsh after I wrote it. To be fair, Chomsky does seem to warm to your questions and some good topics are covered but I must admit that I found your mannerisms such as saying "Wow"..." and slightly tripping over Chomsky's sentences annoying. However most interviewers do seem to find it difficult to predict when Chomsky has finished speaking. The video where the siren goes off - that really could have been taken out, in my view - although it is amusing to watch.

Apr 11, 2012 - If you put your videos up on Youtube, you should expect them to be criticised by anonymous Youtubers. There may be a kernel of truth in some of the criticisms about your interviewing style, though. I see that I am not alone. Most people sit in chairs when they type on Youtube but you don't know what my day job is, Dr. Hildebrandt and I don't measure success by the number of subscribers I have. I remain unoffended. I use this site as a mental sandbox. Video content good, style - needs work.

Helpers are rare. After walking this earth for over half a century, I'm not going to change me to please you. I'm who I am. Some will like me, others won't, but I'm not going to change the "style" of how I talk to a friend.

Why aren't you more annoyed with the world we live in, than tiny things such as my mannerisms? You should put yourself in my shoes for a minute. I drove 1500 miles for this talk.

He knew he was being filmed, yet as stated in a comment in the last day or two, might have been under the longer version, but I don't think either one of us pays all that much to the cameras once we get underway. We have a talk. It happens to be filmed in hopes it will help get more people informed.

Apr 12, 2012 - I suppose it was just my personal preference that an interviewer is less audible throughout an interview. If somebody were responding to my oration with "Wooow!..! and so on, I might ask myself if they were just trying to rush me along but that is likely to be a personal thing. I am always sensitive to interviewers doing that - especially with Chomsky (he does tend to get the bit between his teeth and can be difficult to bring to a pause when he is speaking).Good luck with the work.

A lot depends on what you do with the criticism. Some must be ignored, some might be useful. Any criticism can hurt - especially if it is of work we love or are protective of.You should not change yourself to please some random internet person like me. Good for you on that point.

Apr 12, 2012 - As far as I am concerned, this is another interview with Chomsky put up on Youtube and there is a comments section. I made a critical comment about the interview style but that should not concern you overly much. You can just ignore it, if you wish. It is rare that any video put on this site gets purely positive commentary It comes with the territory.

Apr 12, 2012 - It's NOT an INTERVIEW! When are you going to get that? It's rare that ANY video not get criticism, especially one that really takes things outside conventional thought. I don't mind criticism, if it is constructive. If it's not, and the CONTENT is ignored, then yes, I get upset, because I see the suffering people AND our predicament as humans, as real. We must act like brothers and sisters, or we're sunk.

I have a LOUD voice, that's even stopped a dog fight in an exercise area a hundred yards away when I was in the city. Speaking of which, then the Tibetans had a protest outside the UN back in 2000, and the time came when they were told they could no longer use the bull horn, it didn't matter, because I was there.
