May 29, 2012 - Ok fine he's not married but he is living with her and n a serious relationship with. I wouldn't be in the other woman's shoes bc I dnt have that kind of tolerance (be that good or bad) I like the song. I like sugarland. I just dnt feel bad for the other woman.

May 29, 2012 - WIKIPEDIA: Inspiration"Stay", according to Nettles, was inspired by Reba McEntire's 1986 single "Whoever's in New England", a ballad in which a wife addresses her unfaithful husband.[1] After hearing the song, Nettles thought that it would be an original approach to take the perspective of the "other woman" (i.e., the mistress), as very few country songs had ever done so.[1][2] Once she decided to take that perspective, the song "practically wrote itself".[1]

May 29, 2012 - cmt.com/news/country-music/1578707/the-story-behind-sugarlands-stay.jhtml - another article that says IT IS NOT..... Maybe I am wrong and just haven't found anywhere that says it IS about her - but I have certainly read a lot that suggest is isnt?? Can anyone link me with stuff that says it is? :) x

May 29, 2012 - Yes! She learned in the end to go on and be strong. Life is so complicated and we always learn too late why there is good reason not to get in those kinds of situations. Moral of the story: avoid the situation if at all possible, someone always hurts - especially if there are kids involved.

Elithrae Says:
May 30, 2012 - Eh, I have some sympathy for her because at the end of the day, I know how it feels to be wronged by some douchebag playing you. Given, I was on the other end, as the wife, but....I know how men are. This song was actually written as a "the other side of things" to Reba's "Whoever's In New England." The reason I sympathize is that I've seen girls who had NO idea they were "the other woman" until they were months or even YEARS in, only to find out once they were very-much committed & in love.
Elithrae Says:
May 30, 2012 - And at the end of the day, the person I blame the most is the middle-man (or woman). They're the one choosing to hurt two people they claim to love.

May 30, 2012 - Jeez your right!!! Sheesh I never realized that before! Thank you for that...now I have to watch the video all over again for a million times to listen to it via that perspective :) Poor me lol
willabella188 Says:
May 30, 2012 - the song isn't about her. she decided to write a song from the other woman's point of view.
karenhowes74 Says:
May 30, 2012 - Well, if you're the other woman, you're not the one being "played on", and you have no right to expect... er... loyalty-- considering that you're the cheater. Frankly, if you don't catch on after a little while that your boyfriend has a wife/family, then you're not paying attention. Little red flags, for example the baby car seat in his sedan, and the fact that he can never make plans in advance or go anyplace with you within 20 miles of home...
jayjay185 Says:
May 30, 2012 - I agree with everything you said, except one thing about this video strikes me. You dont cry like that for no reason. Could be a real life experience in this song for her. I dont know if that's true or not, just my observation.
Nikmiknoli Says:
May 30, 2012 - In one of their interviews she said that she was so overcome with emotion from the sense of empowerment that comes with finally deciding to choose yourself and standing up for what is going to best for you - they had to do 3 takes because she kept crying so much! Lol :)

May 29, 2012 - who says hes a married man? no one did! that guy just might have a problem chosen who he wants and don't have the guts to tell the unwanted one that he don't want her. and i am sure if you where in this situation you would cry to. and maybe she dose not want to let that guy go because she really likes him! so really if your gonna leave a crapy comment like that you should expect a comment like this.
