Dec 28, 2011 - That's awesome. I grew up listening to Sandy Nelson and my mom would be around your age right now. She absolutely loved him !!!

Dec 28, 2011 - I think what people are reacting to is not so much Sandy Nelson's technical skill but the heart and soul he poured into his music, the raw emotion ... that's what makes him so legendary I think. It goes beyond talent or technical skill.

Jan 11, 2012 - Yeah, yeah...Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Carmine Appice are #1. But Sander (Sandy) Nelson (b. 1938) had rhythm. This is pop, folks...

Jan 21, 2012 - Hey, i saw a vid of let there be drums with a cartoon girl playing the guitar part, but i cant find it back, any help please?

Jan 23, 2012 - You're missing the point here. I would be the first to admit Buddy Rich is by far a better drummer hands down - no question. Sandy Nelson did for the up n'commer rock drummer what Rich and Morello did for the jazz drummer. He did what no other drummer has done and that's make a career from releasing up-front drum recordings and drum solos. Many drummers today....and I'm talking some well respected drummers, attribute their interest in drumming to Mr. Nelson. He deserves respect

Jan 24, 2012 - Had one of his albums in the late '60s and was struck by his hard driving style. Read on Wikipedia that he lost limbs from an accident. Sorry to read that. Enjoyed listening to him. Wish I still had that album, though.

Mar 3, 2012 - You are spot on with your remarks. Not since the days of Gene Krupa has the drummer been the star on record. Who cares if there was a thousand better drummers, it was this guy who racked up the hits. When this record was played I bet most people either picked up a stick or whatever, and drummed along with it, Or they pictured themselves knocking the crap out of a set of drums. It's that kind of record

Mar 4, 2012 - mick tucker (drummer from the sweet) likes and looks up to sandy nelson, just shows he has good taste :) most drummers back in those early days of druming were as good as each other, buddy rich was good but not the best all were as good in the rightful place.

Mar 13, 2012 - Sandys riff has appeared in many acts music, even Girls Aloud with 'Love machine' cops off Sandys riff.A very underrated influence imo.

My Crap will never Suck... I have NO Call for it... Hail Hail Our Rock & Rolll Founders. No History. No Future......PEACE

Dec 12, 2011 - You are partially correct. Nelson's pretty basic, and Morello and Buddy Rich are a couple of cuts above, BUT if you want to give your ears a REAL treat, type in the name Andre Ceccarelli!
