Dec 23, 2011 - I tried the method of putting an 8mm allen wrench between the chain and sprockets, but i think i turned the wheel to much and heard a 'snap'.Any idea what damage I might have caused? Now when I turn the wheel, instead of moving straight in a line, the sprocket sort of wobbles a bit from side to side.

Feb 1, 2012 - @canyonchaser when my new chain is all et should i move the axel back to the from or keep it where it was?
dp2WF Says:
Feb 2, 2012 - Move the axel all the way forward, towards the front of the bike, that way as the chain wears, you'll be able to slide the axel backwards to take up the slack.

Mar 31, 2012 - If it was off by 1mm, would that do a lot of damage to the chain sprocket?

Apr 1, 2012 - some older motorcycle dudes with a large experience could renew some 'materials' from the past :) me included! thanks it was refreshing:)

Apr 2, 2012 - 1mm is pretty slight - but yes, it would still accelerate wear, although it would be pretty minimal.

Apr 2, 2012 - Thank you for the compliment!

Apr 7, 2012 - You were right on the re check. My 06SV took me 3 times to get it right. Great video man thanks for the help.

Apr 11, 2012 - GOod one thanks, I adjusted my chain recently but only checked it in one place for the correct slack. Some riding later and my chain was operating my louder than usual, grinding and squeaking sounds. Re-checked my chain and that was virtually no movement in some spots on the chain!! adjusted and now its great. Checking with a measuring tape is a good idea - but i have to remove both my dual exhausts which is a bit of a pain!.
Zed100000 Says:
Apr 11, 2012 - makes sense but i doubt very much that even with a metric millimetre measuring tape could you even get it with 1-2mm

May 9, 2012 - RAPTOR 700r (2007). Maybe someone could advise me if i need to change clutch, because i tightened chain to max maybe even too much, but there still is free spot between when going at whatever gear 1,3 or 4 throttle is released at the momment and when i push throttle it feels like engine is going on neutral gear for a very little time (about 0.15 - 0.20 sec) and then torgue hits wheels quite sharp. I think i need new clutch. Can someone advise something? (Please, if you know the problem)

May 21, 2012 - Thanks! It's been years since I had a bike with chain and got very sick and tired listening to my spouse telling me that her ex never loosened the axle nut to adjust the chain for her so why was I having such a problem. (I nearly knocked it over trying to loosen it on her Honda wave before I said do it yourself and walked).
