Dec 19, 2011 - It was. That is the reason bands from the same area a few years later cite Savatage all the time as pioneers of Death Metal. The members of bands like Obituary, Morbid Angel, Death, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse and the like all say Savatage was doing things only found in Death Metal as far back as 1979. This song proves it. Savatage are legends to people around here in Pinellas County Florida, where they are from.
