But the plane load and column damage was NOT a primary factor in collapse. The buildings were designed to withstand those impacts and also to absorb 3-5 times building's load. So it was fire from jet fuel (which most burned off in first 5 minutes) and combustible office furnishings that caused global collapse...according to NIST.
