May 9, 2012 - i enjoyed this. not sure why i watched it, as i don't plan on ever owning a chinchilla, but still...lovely to see people so caring and knowledgeable about their pets :)chinchillas sound very demanding by the way! but i'm sure they are very rewarding as well. hopefully videos like this will make people think twice before just buying one for its cuteness & taking ownership too lightly.

May 14, 2012 - Um I am most likely getting two chinchillas(I've never had one) and I'm going to get them as babies. I was wondering if putting them in the same cage right away is dangerous?
thatcoysmile Says:
May 15, 2012 - I love my chinny babies. :3 I have two boys that I got from pet stores, and who love each other very much. I also adopted two girls from Petfinder who needed a new Forever Home. They weren't handled very nicely, but they are becoming very trusting and friendly with time and trust.

May 15, 2012 - thats GREAT
jglaser333 Says:
May 15, 2012 - if they were not brought up together, caged together then yes it can be dangerousif they are a bonded pair you should be ok but keep an eye on them
NROBable Says:
May 15, 2012 - Do dogs and chinchillas fight specifically yellow labs
jglaser333 Says:
May 16, 2012 - never ever let your dog or cat with a chinchillathey are PREY animals and even if they could get along it makes them really nervous, some even have heart attacks from being hassled by well meaning dogs/cats. Labs are hunting dogs... do not let them together. If they DID fight..you would have one dead chinchilla.

May 17, 2012 - hey quick question. I just bought two 8 week old chines from a breeder. I wanted two females but she only had one female left. I knew I wanted two so they could play together. She talked me into a female and a male. I was worried that they would breed but she said it was easy to breed them. Is that true? u said in ur video that it was dangerous. do i listen to the breeder or what? I'm soo lost. i def don't want anything to happen to my baby girl Sugah.
jglaser333 Says:
May 17, 2012 - Please message me with the name of the breeder. In 5000 or so messages Ive gotten on youtube this is the most IRRESPONSIBLE thing I have ever heard. That breeder should be closed down. Breeding chinchillas is dangerous, not profitable, and the reason why chinchillas are dying of malocclusion etc. That breeder is out for a buck...nothing else. I would NOT buy a potato chip from that person...or anything else.Get two of the same gender!! PLEASE or separate NOWmy best Jamie

May 18, 2012 - is it okay if ur chinchilla is near a breeze or air conditioning? also do they have an odor and does their feces stink like rabbits do????
jglaser333 Says:
May 18, 2012 - no..chinchillas can NOT be near drafts of any kind. They can easily get upper respirotryinfections..however they DO NEED air conditioning, Fans are not suitable ...as fans work cause people sweat, it cools the perspiration. Chinchillas do NOT sweat.Their feces are dry and have no smell, and no they have no odor or dander

dayshaddow Says:
May 26, 2012 - please take no affence but i have two cats and both are apex hunters, the large male just sit there as my chinchilla runs up to him and grabs his tail or jumps on him..he just leaves the room or goes back to sleep the small female is very scared of him as he dosnt recognise her as a perditor and runs up to greet her so she runs for her life. cats are pre programed to follow a hunting pattern, they alway hunt from behind a chinchilla will just run at them and they are stumped and run
dayshaddow Says:
May 26, 2012 - i will take a video shortly as they are all sleeping now

May 27, 2012 - I get nearly 4000 messages a year here, own my own pet forum and as you know I travel as a musician/composer producer. I cant tell you how many letters where the cat or dog has killed or maimed a chinchilla, or guinea pig. Chinchillas are prey animals and will be made to be extremely nervous , unhappy , even have heart attacks if near a predator all the timeplease close the door and keep them separated always. Your chinchilla and life will thank you for doing so

May 9, 2012 - Hi, My chinchilla died around October and I miss him so much. He taught me that it is okay to move on. He taught me that it's okay to cry and to think of the positives not the negatives in life. He died because of a really bad illness. The vet did not know what was wrong with him. He was not eating or drinking. She told me it was best to just let him go. I knew he could live longer. So I hand fed him with a syringe. Then one day he was better, then he died the next day. RIP Chin (Mommy loves u)
