Aug 31, 2011 - Good Lord .. this is amazing! Anyone who does criticize this girl, is just musically unlettered or immoderately arrogant. We will never know if, Horowitz, Rachmaninoff or Chopin ever presented as good performance in the age of 8 .. but anyway, her talent is incontestable. Possibly, in 10 years we will admire and listen to the compositions of Grieg, Gershwin and Emily Bear as well? It seems, nothing can stop her.

Nov 23, 2011 - cool, i am leraning die Piano for little more than one year and i learn that peace too. its easy to memorize but dont think easy to play! Mozart has a special touch. Emily plays ist beautifull for a 7 year old Girl. In 10 Years i am sure she can play it PERFECTLY! Such a talent :D

Nov 24, 2011 - Part of my enjoyment of anything Emily plays is knowing I am listening to the Mozart of our age - whatever her interests bring her to do with all that genius and talent. We are all so fortunate, irregardless of the few who hit the thumbs down button accidentally.

Dec 1, 2011 - This piano concerto, Mozart's 23rd, is one of the all time great musical inventions. It is Mozart's slow movements that draw me in (part 2) and Emily does this sparse musical poser great justice. Even without knowing the age of the pianist this was played as well as it gets. Bravo Emily and the RSO...

Dec 3, 2011 - 5 dislikes. All from extremely bitter and jealous people. Her family dislike the word prodigy, but she has got a beautiful and remarkable talent.

Dec 5, 2011 - This is a major classical work. For a child of only 7 years to perform it at all, let alone to this standard, and from memory, is unbelievable. What will she be like in 10 years time?

Dec 29, 2011 - such young age in a concerto O.o

Jan 2, 2012 - If it had only been videoed I wouldn't feel so bad about missing this performance. She's one in many billions, the talent of our generations, a National Treasure.

Feb 18, 2012 - actually there is a video, but the person who video'd chooses to keep it private, but i was at the concert that night and I can guarentee you Emily played this and she was just brillant

Mar 5, 2012 - Calling name is not just rude but showing low class...everyone has his/her opinion....Emily may be a good jazz player but not so much a classical player....it's just my opinion. I'm glad so many people love her but I've heard so many other young pianists who are truly amazing classical pianists.......best wishes to her....
cchrisr1964 Says:
Mar 12, 2012 - What is best is that she enjoys playing the piece; indeed anything she touches from this to Bumble Boogie ! @mihytubruce131 I seem to think that you forget that this child is only SEVEN Years old ! Could you play a complex piece like this when you were here age? No you, were probably playing the Triangle in the school play ! I am pleased that you wish her well, but your criticism are unjustified.

Mar 30, 2012 - People say things like, 'Modern Mozart', quite often about Emily, but I strongly believe we are witnessing someone who only comes along once in all human history. She is unique. Mozart was a genius, but Emily is her own kind of genius.

Mar 31, 2012 - She should play while Jackie Evancho sings it would be amazing!:)

Apr 2, 2012 - You saw this? Lucky you!

Apr 12, 2012 - I keep coming back to this performance over and over just to hear the beauty and expressive nature of the piano playing. I have been in the music business for 40 years and I keep getting choked up just listening to this. It's genius. This is a seven-year-old?? The world has never experienced this before.

May 2, 2012 - I agree with mightybruce131. There are many young pianists I've seen on youtube who are truly gifted in classical music, playing difficult pieces effortlessly and with honest interpretations and excellent articulation (I'd like to point out just a few). Emily is a very good young pianist with excellent technical skills but she still needs to develop deeper understanding of the classical music in my opinion. The most importantly, I hope she is enjoying what she does and wish her all the best.

May 2, 2012 - I think she was 9 in this video, not 7. A video, "EMILY BEAR - 7 years old - plays "Northern Lights" -- an Original Piano Composition", uploaded by stampman50 on Nov 27, 2008, says she "won the 2008 ASCAP award..."Check this out: PTNA Competition 2004 Aimi Kobayashi Chopin Nocturne no.20 in C sharp-minor op.posth (uploaded by cristeny on Jun 11, 2010). She was 8 yet exhibited an amazingly deep understanding of Chopin' music. I wonder how often she can create such performances.
absoftitanium Says:
May 28, 2012 - Emily was born on Aug. 30, 2001. This video was uploaded in Jan. of 2010 after the recording of the concert was played on the radio, but she played the concert in March of 2009, when she was SEVEN years old. This concert of hers is well-known and was highly anticipated and hugely applauded when she presented it. It received standing ovations and she was called out for 3 encores. She won the 2008 ASCAP award for 'Northern Lights' when she was SIX years old.
