Mar 9, 2012 - Regarding the red neck stuff. I just think Skynyrd are trying too hard to forge an identity, since the tragic loss of Ronnie Van Zant. It is well known that Ronnie drank and got into fights, but I don't remember him ever trying to label himself, or the band, as rednecks, or anything else for that matter. The fighting, (in his earlier years) was just his personality. The bottom line, is that Ronnie was a great song writer and Skynyrd have never been able to replace him.

May 18, 2012 - Hey, I feel exactly the same and some folks FAREEEAK at me cuz of it. That's my feeling and nobody will change it. On October 20th 1977 at about 6:45PM is the day the music died...and part of me too. Don't feel bad about nuthin' you said man.
treblejunkie Says:
May 18, 2012 - You fukin' wish he was gay...get back in the closet M'am.
treblejunkie Says:
May 18, 2012 - Ronnie Van Zant, like very very many people, was a terrible drunk. He changed when he drank alcohol...just like EVERYBODY does. Some just worse than others. Alcohol is as bad as crack or meth made in some scumbags trailer. Ronnie was cleaning up his image during the Street Survivors Tour. Can you imagine the music they would be making if they flew in another type of airplane?
treblejunkie Says:
May 18, 2012 - You can read my mind eh? You sure got that right.

May 18, 2012 - Hey extra chromosome girl....stay out of a conversation that is 7 months old that you don't know a damn thing about. You hear me Susan?
treblejunkie Says:
May 18, 2012 - Buddy, I'm just fukin' kidding. How'd you know my real name was Susan though? You must be telepathic LT. Extra chromosome girl...I'm still laughing. Great one LT sir. If it makes you feel better, I'm a homophobe too. I just can't wait for your reply on this one. Bottom line Lynyrd Skynyrd is great...then and now. Take care Lieutenant...nice car by the way. Sincerely, Suzy.
LT1HILLINGHOE Says:
May 18, 2012 - Remind me to give a rat's ass. Now get on back to farting in your bathtub and eating the bubbles, Susan.
treblejunkie Says:
May 18, 2012 - Never done tried that LT. Sounds fun though...thanks eh sir.

May 19, 2012 - Very sad day for sure, I can't remember what I said to this guy, I think it all started because I said Steve Gains was much better than Ed King, and he was. Thanks.
treblejunkie Says:
May 19, 2012 - Steve Gaines was definitely a fantastic player and added just what Lynyrd Skynyrd needed to get back that three axe attack they're known for. Steve was a seasoned musician and Ronnie just loved him it seemed. I don't even wanna think of the great music that wouldv'e materialized if the plane crash never happened. Ed King was a great player too. He really helped Lynyrd Skynrd rise to power and you can't say he didn't. Lynyrd Skynyrd will live forever. Dia iad buachailli Skynyrd eh.
12889414 Says:
May 19, 2012 - yeah I agree, I'm not putting Ed down when I say Steve was better, I just think steve was headed to be like a SRV or Eric Clapton type player. They were definitely headed toward greatness at the time of the crash, we sure missed out on some great music.

May 19, 2012 - It's hard to believe how buying an album because I liked the guy giving the finger and thought it was cool on Nuthin' Fancy. It was the summer of 1975 in Vancouver when I bought that 1st Skynyrd album. That music changed my life and so many other folks' lives as well. They pick me up when I'm felling blue every single time. Skynyrd is the best addiction I ever had...and no OD's.
12889414 Says:
May 20, 2012 - Yes it's been a big part of my life, I love Ronnie wish I could have seen him live. Never really thought about them much in my early teens, loved Hank Jr went to all his shows and he kept talking about them all the time and playing there songs, went and bought second helping, before long I had them all and forgot about Hank.lol
treblejunkie Says:
May 21, 2012 - Hank Williams Jr. is great. I love his older stuff. All My Rowdy Friends, Family Tradition, that stuff. Another great country outlaw kinda guy eh? Waylon, Willie, George Jones, Merle Haggard...you cannot beat that stuff. Classic country, not like today's country clone shit...every song sounds the same. Some guy, or gal, from Minnisnowda trying to sound like they're from Mobile Alabama or something. Bogus.
12889414 Says:
May 21, 2012 - Love them all, especialy Waylon and Merle, yeah I really don't like the country music today it's all fake.
NEWKIDINTOWNMUSIC Says:
May 24, 2012 - Great to see even good ol Billy Powell runnin wild here! The more I watch footage from the 1973 till 1975 Skynyrd era the more I realise that Ed King was the man on the solo guitar...jesus his licks are perfection....never a note more or less ...nothin to do with so many boring 70`s solo guitarists like Jimmy page who could just puke notes although he obviously was great at writing riffs....:-)
