Title: Review of Das Keyboard Professional

Description:
My review of the Das Keyboard Professional (with lettering) comparing it to Matias Tactile Pro.NOTE-I no longer recommend this keyboard. This is a nice clicky keyboard but here a few negatives to be aware of:-It is a total dust magnet because it has a high gloss finish. This means that it will look dusty most of the time and show fingerprints unless you wipe it with the included microfiber cloth. -The lettering on the keys started to wear off after only a couple of months. A keyboard of this price should have very sturdy lettering on the keys, not crapped painted on ones that can be rubbed off.- The keys started to look shiny from wear/usage after only a couple of months. I'm a normal typist, am not hard on keyboards, but I use them daily. -This keyboard required two USB ports to be used on my computer in order to work correctly.I like my original classic IBM Model M and Unicomp Customizer 104 keyboards (current new model based on the IBM Model M with buckling springs) much better as they feel much more sturdy and even nicer to type on all day. And they are way cheaper than the DAS keyboard. You can still find some of the old IBM Model M keyboards that the Unicomp is based on and use a PS2 to USB adapter-works great! In fact, many 'in the know' believe the old IBM Model M to be the best keyboard ever made.

Jan 1, 2012 - "The term laser marking is also used as a generic term covering a broad spectrum of surfacing techniques including printing"I don't care what anybody tells you so called "laser etched" keys wear off. Look at every single review of the Steelseries 6gv2 they all say it wears out quick but its "laser etched" so what about that?

Jan 7, 2012 - It doesn't use rubber domes, they're mechanical switches with springs inside :) Either alps or cherry key switches. Personally I prefer the "buckling spring" type that you get on the old IBM Model M keyboards, the M13 was a nice keyboard but it's really rare now - I just won a bid for one and had to cancel because paypal screwed up and wouldn't let me verify my card :( However Unicomp will make one for you (minus clit-mouse) with blank black keys!

Mar 6, 2012 - What kind of switch does it use? Sounds like Cherry Reds.
Falconvk Says:
Mar 8, 2012 - this particular one uses the cherry blues as far as I know. There is an identical version with the Cherry Browns though (appropriately named 'Silent')

Apr 26, 2012 - Hi mate.Do the long keys, like the shift keys, enter keys, backspace and the space bar... sit on a single mechanical switch with supporting standoffs or does DAS use multiple mechanical MX brown switches for those long keys?Im asking you cuz i got the K90 corsair, and those long keys don't really feel like the rest of the keys.they feel more like rubber dome keys because Corsair uses a single switch with two supporting standoffs for the long keys...thanks in advance.
