Title: Cisco Smart Grid - HD Version

Added: Sep 21, 2009

Author: CSCOPR

Duration: 4:38

Description:
Smart Grid is the name for a smart energy system. Cisco defines it as a connected, efficient and reliable end-to-end network that integrates all energy supply and demand sources. End-to-end integration means end-to-end communication and management of huge data flows in real-time. Just like in the internet, instead of routing information flows, the smart grid needs to route electricity flows in the most efficient way.

Dec 16, 2009 - Smart Grid is digital technology that helps to eliminate waste and brings about greater efficiency in the electrical distribution network. Transformer company, Pacific Crest Transformers is working in this direction too. Check its website for more on transformers and the 'smart' system.

Jan 22, 2010 - I recently had to restore more computor to get rid of a virus. With all this 'interconnect' between so many entities we are looking at more power blackouts and brownouts and morons hacking into the grid to make havoc of our power system. The grid colud use improvements but this 'whole ball of wax' system makes everybody too interdependant. Oh yea, global warming is a hoax of course.

cespedeslv Says:

May 1, 2010 - I love this technology/smart-grid stuff. I hope that one day I'll be able from the comfort of my living-room or bed-room turn-off my kids power by a menu select on my television. Well when ever I have kids..wink!

louiseiiid Says:

May 9, 2010 - No sir, the warming is a reality, but it is caused by sun-flares.We should still be looking to find better infrastructures and smarter energy.

joskemom Says:

May 11, 2010 - Hey louiseiiid, ok, man made global warming is a hoax, not much we can do about the sun flares. Agreed, we should always be looking to improve our infrastructures but I dont want the utilities to be intrusive into my private life. I dont need or want DWP controlling my A/C unit from their headquarters.

Sep 21, 2010 - It sounds like the Gov. or "whoever" has control of the energy grid would be big brother and quite a fucking pain - If I wanna wash my dishes at night time, I expect them to be washed and dry before I go to bed.. not 4am because the energy company decides to make energy cheaper then! We all know internet companies who slow down our connection, cut us off at times... it will be the same here..maybe they say it will phase out petrol cars, Im not convinced elite business will not benefit from this

cloudburstlenepmhq Says:

Oct 7, 2010 - Free Energy is real and its here! The Oil companies are doing everything they can to stop this information. If you want a Free energy magnet motor , get the blueprints at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM , Join the revolution!

granthamicus Says:

Oct 16, 2010 - Time to move on and accept the fact that real privacy no longer exists. If this makes sense for big industrial and governmental entities to implement then it will happen, with or without you. I personally wouldn't care who knows how much energy I consume, save, sell back to the grid. Just my two cents.

waqasahmed939 Says:

Nov 3, 2010 - You do get to choose when to wash the dishes etc... This is just green technology for the future, which means massive share price hikes for CISCO, energy companies, and electrical car manufacturersThink I may buy shares in CISCO lol

timonix2 Says:

Dec 6, 2010 - i kinda of agree. The human effects are way bigger than they should be. be it doesn't really matter if that's what causing the problem. Better production, new technology and infrastructure is ALWAYS good.

RichEeyore Says:

Dec 31, 2010 - Ah, Cisco - your PR quality control failed - the final ten seconds shows the earth rotating backwards (the solar terminator moving from west to east)

Feb 26, 2011 - This is a great first step into a Resource Based Economy! Intelligent management of the earths resources is whats needed.

May 6, 2011 - Les hablo desde Perú, este sistema es muy importante para el ahorro muy significativo de energia y la proteccion del medio ambiente, espero que el gobierno peruano tenga esta informacion para luego se implemente a todo el territorio nacional. Gracias

TheWindGinProject Says:

Jun 8, 2011 - Question?Would it be cost effective to produce Hydrogen at Hydroelectric power plants during off peak periods when it is necessary to release water from the dam?Question?Would it be possible for the "Smart Grid" to recognize when excess power is on the grid due to lower demands and if so could Hydrogen be produced with this excess Power? Also, I wonder if this would be cost effective.

swgk72 Says:

Aug 15, 2011 - Bit hard to accept CISCO's vision as credible when they just cancelled two of the products that they showcase in the video, the HEC (Home Energy Controller) and their Building Mediator Software. Nice graphics, lots of buzz words but I see no beef...

Evmoy15 Says:

Sep 5, 2011 - It's a apple loop called "Satellites"

Jan 20, 2012 - 360 proprietary protocol ?

smtsrs Says:
