Sep 28, 2011 - For everyone "downing" her performance...it's about more than the singing, and incidentally, she sings just fine. She won an "Olivier" for this role, which is British Theater's highest honor. Every performer puts their own into the role, and she is no exception.

Oct 31, 2011 - I agree. It is the simplicity, subtlely, and ture honesty of her emotions that move us so. A lesson that others can learn from (no names). All the "acting" and "interpreting" in the world cannot stand up next to such TRUTH in a performance.

Nov 7, 2011 - I agree. Musical theatre is not just about singing but also about acting and telling a story. Its most important that we BELIEVE the story. Judy makes you believe what her character is feeling. And frankly she brought me to tears.

Feb 5, 2012 - The definitive performer and performance. An exquisite, soul-shaking, devastating rendition.
LucidDreeaaming Says:
Feb 7, 2012 - Her acting is flawless you can honestly feel the character's emotion in this performance..her voice isn't the BEST but I think it adds to her overall appeal. I do believe that Catherine Zeta Jones has the better voice and I am most certainly a fan but Judith's acting is more believable which is crucial in the musical theater industry. If people cant feel the emotions and if your acting cant tell a story then you wont make it far. Judith is most certainly capable of bringing that emotion.

Mar 10, 2012 - I feel that this is the quintessential performance of this song which had beome almost a cliche. It's performed by Densch at the exactly right age with the twinge of bitterness and anger that belongs there and that Sondheim talks about in writing it. And that the character, Desiree, was entitled to. I just wonder if there is anything Judi Densch caNOT do in ath astonishing variety of her talent. Well, this is terribly moving and I thank you every so much for it. Warm Regards, Jean
