Nov 16, 2010 - I couldn't agree more. I think Christianity did much more to harm civilization. The idea that what you believe is more important than what you do is without question the most evil idea in the history of mankind. But, I think if we ignore the book in its entirety -- or at least disregard it as nothing more than any other ancient work of literature, the world will be a much better place.

May 11, 2011 - God didnt take everything from Job...The devil did. If you read Job The Devil challeged God and God told him he could take everything from Job. When Job still showed faith in God, God gave him more then what he had. >_> I'm honestly not sure what to think of these videos they are witty yes but idk.

misterdeity Says:

May 11, 2011 - I don't think the story of Job actually happened. It was just a moral tale to teach people that when bad things happen, we shouldn't assume it's because God is punishing them (what was believed both then, and during the middle ages). But in answer to your question, God allows the Devil to torture this near perfect man and take everything from him -- basically as a bet. If the story were real, that would be some pretty sick stuff, and God would be the sicker of the two for allowing it.

misterdeity Says:

May 11, 2011 - So true.

misterdeity Says:

May 11, 2011 - Bravo!

monkeytail2002 Says:

May 11, 2011 - Glad you agree :D Did he aim for that in his acting or did it just naturally happen?

misterdeity Says:

May 11, 2011 - I think it just grew out of the writing. There is one big difference though. Smithers always just agrees immediately with anything Mr. Burns wants to do. Larry will actually raise questions, try to change Mr. Deity's mind -- it's entirely fruitless, and ultimately Larry goes along, but he has much more heart than Smithers. Plus, Larry isn't gay (not that there's anything wrong with that).

monkeytail2002 Says:

May 11, 2011 - It was more along the lines of fighting for your........I mean Mr. Deity's.......affection with "the boy" that made me think on it.

tifforo1 Says:

May 17, 2011 - He is not "fire and brimstone" in the first half in the way people think of. The idea of the afterlife is barely developed in the OT and the concept of Hell is nowhere to be found.

misterdeity Says:

May 17, 2011 - I agree. The God of the Hebrew Bible is awful, but the Christian God is so much worse. Great point!

trips2012 Says:

May 26, 2011 - First of all....came to this from Why God won't Heal Amputees..Funny stuff!Maybe God is like a lot of guys out there(myself included) who, after having a kid, mellowed out.I know I'm a lot less prone to getting into a scrap because I don't want to run the risk of getting arrested and leaving my wife to take care of the kids alone.I have a higher sense of responsibility now. Of course, this is all based on the assumption that God exists, which I am getting more skeptical of every day...

misterdeity Says:

May 26, 2011 - That's funny! I like that idea -- God mellowed after he had a kid. Funny!

Jun 5, 2011 - Omd(eity). I've seen a bunch of your videos and decided to go back to the first season. I love your bluntness on God's character. You're so direct with it and if people would just read their bibles, they couldn't deny your comedic honesty! XD

ctraver Says:

Oct 17, 2011 - Neither are all that horrible when the Bible is read as an allegory, and historical context is considered rather than blindly applying it to varied situations. I wouldn't call it perfect, but read as allegory and metaphor, there is some value in the stories.Yahweh followers seem to get angrier over suggesting an allegorical reading than they do over an evil reading though.

Azrael666Azazel Says:
