Mar 31, 2012 - Dude. Are you fucking kidding me? This is the third time you took it totally wrong. Either that or you're trying to change the argument a little so it makes me look like the bad guy. No shit they have successful games like AC, Elder Scrolls and a couple of other games which have amazing stories to tell. That's still NOT what people want the most. AC by the way was your only effective argument. Almost all of the people i know who play Skyrim don't even know what it's about.

Mar 31, 2012 - The MOST( as in top 10 or so not top 100 as you think im putting it) succesful games stray from good story lines.

Mar 31, 2012 - You mean, 'this is the *first* time you took it totally wrong.' That's my first comment to you, let alone my first comment on this video. But anyways, back to what we're talking about: THE most successful game out nowadays is WoW, and and that's a fact. Granted, WoW is more of a PvP-driven game than a story-driven one, but there's so much lore and backstory behind the game. Some people may not play it for the story, but I'm sure most people who play it know HOW Arthas became the Lich King.
MrRobottic Says:
Mar 31, 2012 - Most people play video games for the story, just like most people watch movies for the story. You don't see movies like Death Race or Gamer reaching the top of the movie charts, do you? No. You see movies like The Lord of the Rings or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at the top of the charts. It's the same with games. I mean sure, Call of Duty: MW didn't have that great of a story, but it was still there, and it involved me enough to want to play the series.
MrRobottic Says:
Mar 31, 2012 - Would you say that Mass Effect or Uncharted have poor storylines? Not at all. And as far as the Elder Scrolls series goes in regards of your friends not knowing what it's about, it's probably due to the fact that there's so much to DO in those games that they end up getting lost in them. I could say that happened to me with Morrowind, but I'm thoroughly enjoying Skyrim and ALL of it's story. Don't be so ignorant as to say that I misinterpreted what you said. I'm clearly providing a valid debate.
tinyjoker666 Says:
Apr 3, 2012 - The elderscrolls series has been an extremely successful franchise because of huge landscape and having the ability to customize and interact with just about everything. My friends don't even know the purpose of the main story in skyrim. You take one point out of my argument and you ignore the others which explain it. Read the posts yourself. The games your listing are amazing in my opinion and apparently yours as well. They are successful but not the MOST successful.

May 3, 2012 - I'm curious, what's better, Modern Warfare or Medal of Honor? And is Warfighter going to be better than MW3? I haven't played a Modern Wafare since the first one and I've never played Medal of Honor.

May 26, 2012 - Sorta made both by Dice and multiplayer but the creators of Battlefield.
ZenlarkGames Says:
May 27, 2012 - the reason duke nukem and quake were so successful was yes the non stop action, but its primary reason was because they were revolutionary for their time. 3D was just getting started, and these games truly innovated the genre. If you want run and gun, play online. After all, there are some of us who still enjoy a good single player campaign, and a good campaign has some sort of storyline to follow, as long as it doesnt gouge into actual game time. *cough* turok 3 *cough* stab raptor que cutscene

MrRobottic Says:
Mar 29, 2012 - People don't care about story lines anymore, eh? Guess we can throw out games like the Assassin's Creed series, The Elder Scrolls series, and any number of other games which do in fact focus on story more than anything. Because you're obviously right. Everyone wants to just play a mutliplayer-based game with absolutely no campaign to speak of. I suppose sarcasm is one way of me saying that there certainly are many gamers, as well as game-developers, who want to focus on a good story.
