Title: Geronimo E-KIA, a poem by the 1491s
Added: Jun 1, 2011
Author: the1491s
Duration: 4:28
Description:
Accompanying music by A Tribe Called RedOn May 1st around 3:30pm President Obama received a message from a Navy SEAL saying "Geronimo- E KIA" the code meaning Osama bin Laden is dead. We humbly disagree. Geronimo was a product of his environment. A human. One with flaws. One with enough history that the person charged with defining who he is can shape the narrative any which way he likes. People chase him today, just as they did then. His story, or peoples versions of it, lead us to this point where we are today. But this poem isn't about Geronimo is it?Don't confuse the war with the warrior. Support your soldiers and veterans

Apr 12, 2012 - 1491s......Thank you for reminding me of the thousands of people who struggle to maintain our centuries old traditions despite the oppressive efforts of those who cannot comprehend true respect, honor and spirituality!!! ....he lives in those who combat suicide after 5 p.m. and on the weekends because our youth truly are SACRED!
sicangucante Says:
Apr 12, 2012 - he lives in those who CHOOSE to live alcohol and drug-free despite generations of addiction because it is not our way.he lives in those who keep fighting no matter how many times they have been knocked down.he lives in those who can envision a better future for their people and work hard at trying to reach it knowing that they may never see it materialize in their lifetimes.
sicangucante Says:
Apr 12, 2012 - he lives in those who treat ALL races kindly despite history.he lives in those who are constantly being asked "What is in it for you?" when helping ALL people.he lives in those who practice traditional ceremonies instead of giving in to GUILT trips from organized religion.he lives in those who are struggling to survive our Reservations instead of running or hiding in a bottle or off the Rez.
sicangucante Says:
Apr 12, 2012 - he lives in those who choose their native language instead of Ebonics.he lives in those who could not be silenced through assimilation.he lives in those who run into that which scares them the most.he lives in those who maintain their cultural identity despite ridicule from their own people.he lives in those who protect sacred sites.

Machetazo1 Says:
May 1, 2012 - Umm, He would NOT be a sniper scout hunting down ANOTHER U.S. enemy on their own homeland FOR THE U.S....AS THE U.S. DID while hunting HIM down... that is so patriotically hypocritical and against his principle. That's the only part I have any problem with. Stop caving in to the colony and its narrative, that is so un"Geronimo" to do...
Native1612 Says:
May 1, 2012 - Machetazo i think you might have missed the point my friend. its not about what HE would have done but about his legacy that is in all native people. therefore he is alive in my brother who is a Marine and has done a tour in iraq and in afghanistan and will come home to help native children who so badly need it
TrekMofo2k6 Says:
May 2, 2012 - He's alive in the the college student who was severed from his people--and takes time now to fill his heart with the stories and strength of all the indigenous people under oppression.
aslund76 Says:
May 11, 2012 - Matchtezo1 is Correct. And the UN never helps anyone. It was set up by the same banker family that committed us to the Rez. Bin laden was killed in 2002. It was in the Pakistani papers. Stop believing the military and Government has changed at all. The whole story about Bin Ladan being killed by seal team six is total fabrication. So you got that part right.
