Mar 29, 2012 - Indeed, that is the problem with a lot of Reggae, it was simplistic because it was centered on drum and bass and the melody, if any, was bleak and bound to it, that's just a jam. The best reggae was not composed that way, it was centered on compositions, actual song, and resulted more evolving and dimensional. We all know Pink Floyd didn't compose Dark Side by first "balancing drum and base" and listen to the great "Dub Side of the Moon".Simply put, good songs are not composed by drummers.

Mar 31, 2012 - What if I prefer the jaming, simplistic, repetitive, slowly progressing tunes that come from a focus on drum and bass? Doesn't make my taste in music any less great or good, it's a subjective thing.

May 26, 2012 - don't be such a fool, the narrator talk 'bout the recording session, these guys were all true musicians.Composition aint a challenge for reggae, neither improvisation, many if not all came from the Alpha Boys School, where music lessons are a must, all the skatalites were there... scratch himself wrote great lyrics and music in the ska era, without being creditedcha!!!!!
