Title: Crystals - He's A Rebel (1965 clip!)
Added: May 19, 2010
Author: SixtiesPopGold
Duration: 2:16
Description:
This clip is a bit tragic; The Crystals didn't sing on "He's a Rebel", and here they are - almost 3 years later - miming to Darlene Love & The Blossoms' voices. Well, it's Darlene who sings lead at least. Please don't forget to check out my other channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/DeShannoninmyheart

Jan 12, 2012 - Why on earth we can't go back to music like this when in clothes fashion there's always going back to earlier times , music fashion should be the same ,specially when they ran out of creativity and ideas and only junk is being recorded.Bring back this music, motown , doo wop, good ol' rock and roll !

Feb 1, 2012 - Yeah 60's popgold...you can thank that piece of human turd Phil Spector for that.....he had some unique musical ideas, but he was an absolute chickenshit, and Later in life, a cold murderer....hope he rots in the can...and darlene love and the others got royally f*cked over by shfincter too

Feb 3, 2012 - Darlene Love sung this song and never got the fame she deserved.. This song was #1 for 60 weeks yet Darlene got no credit! Darlene laughing now she is in the rock hall and the crystals not even close

Feb 8, 2012 - Here's some Crystal's trivia; only one female band in the 60's sold more records....The Supremes........

Feb 24, 2012 - For sure NOT Lala's voice. I just watched Lala sing the Da Do Ron Ron......Her voice, like Darlenes is Very Distinctive. Love both Women.
TheSincere14U Says:
Mar 7, 2012 - This song uses Darlene Love's voice because Phil Spector re-recorded it using her voice. She also sang with the BLOSSOMS - yep, Spector did voice-overs continuing to use Love's voice with this group also - collecting big payoffs for years. Love was finally awarded past-due royalty fees, but didn't get the judgement pay-off ($235,500) until almost THIRTY years later! At least she got it while still living.

Mar 9, 2012 - From what I have read Gene Pitney who wrote the song offered it to the Shirelles but they turned it down, Phil was keen to record it but the Crystals were on tour, Phil heard another singer was going to record it so he got Darlene to record it and he rush released it as by The Crystals, but thats typical of the times.
emb1st Says:
Mar 27, 2012 - that was typical during that time. the recording industry was extremely shady with all the wrong people getting the money and the artists going hungry. Gene also wrote Hello Mary Lou and got the shaft from a singer of the Sparks (Decca) who claimed his Merry Mary Louhad been copywrited and for the last 50 years receives royalties that should be going toGene Pitney. the two songs have nothing but the name in common.

Apr 27, 2012 - I didn't know Ronnie Spector was in the group. That's her in the middle or I'm hallucinating.
IanHunedoara8 Says:
Apr 29, 2012 - Darlene is in the Hall of Fame and Phil is inside the big house for the rest of his miserable life.
dpohunter Says:
May 18, 2012 - Nope, not Ronnie. That's Dee Dee Kennibrew, although there is a slight resemblance. Ronnie (Bennett) Spector was never a member of the Crystals, but she did supply a few lead vocals on some Crystals album filler tracks (Mashed Potato Time, Hot Pastrami)
jimbamboozled Says:
May 19, 2012 - Yes, I was wrong. 50's and 60's rock n' roll for ever! Thank you for straightening me out on that. Sincerely. I love my 50's and 60's music.
dpohunter Says:
