Jan 20, 2012 - These aren't Christmas candies, they're for Saint Nick, which is the gift-giving holiday in the Netherlands. They also have Christmas, but there's no presents. The syrup waffles aren't actually related to any holiday, but it's a very Dutch treat

Jan 20, 2012 - Kruidnootjes = herb nuts literally, nice gingerbread like snacks indeed. Love those
markvergeer Says:
Jan 20, 2012 - Extra grote stroopwafels = extra grand waffles, thin waffles with caramel like stuff in between. If you put them on top of a cop of hot coffee to make them a little softer that is how the Dutch consume them.
markvergeer Says:
Jan 20, 2012 - Kikkers en Muizen = frogs and mice chocolate animals, indeed a snack associated with the Dutch Santa
markvergeer Says:
Jan 20, 2012 - Taai Taai = don't like them myself, very mweh... I think too much anis in it. But a lot of people love them to bits. Cool to see you guys experience those typical Dutch treats. :)
BeeryGamer Says:
Jan 20, 2012 - Actually that's not mint inside the kikkers and muizen, otherwise it would taste waaaay different, nope it is actually some kind of fondant, sort of a glazing type of substance! Also, I've never heard of someone that they don't like the stroopwafels, I'm glad you like them so much! The middle part is just made out of syrup (stroop), weird you didn't recognize the flavor!I also like how you give every dutch word sort of a Scandinavian articulation to it, it's quite entertaining!
