May 26, 2012 - "Yet it harbours an intelligence, nearly identical to our own"... I'm sorry what? First of all, how could you possibly claim that, without actually getting inside the mind of an octopus? Tests and neurological comparisons can only hint at what the octopus is thinking. It is impossible to KNOW what the octopus is thinking and therefore claim that its intelligence is "nearly identical to our own".
happierthanyouandme Says:
May 26, 2012 - All you can say is that the octopus has an intelligent method for solving certain problems that resembles how we might solve the problem, using our own version of intelligence. Secondly, if an octopus is "nearly identical" in intelligence to a human, then what does that make a dog, a pig or a chimp? I think that choice of language is a tad exaggerating.
happierthanyouandme Says:
May 26, 2012 - "Thinking; if the crab got in there, there must be a way to get it out". Again; how do you know that this is what the octopus is thinking? Maybe, just maybe, the octopus doesn't care or even give any 'thought' to how the crab got in the jar and is simply looking for a way into the jar.

May 27, 2012 - so you are atheist mother fucker
severuxtrololo Says:
May 27, 2012 - so am i what? athiesm isnt a thing, its just a normal truth. its what you "creationists" call us.
xTheGerbilx Says:
May 27, 2012 - atheism is a thing, it's the refusal to believe in (a) god(s). and not claiming my beliefs are better than yours, it is a theory. Science cannot prove the existance of God, since according to religion, God would stand above science. What you CAN prove however is that the ways people have looked at scientific structures throughout the ages (and which are promoted by the church) are wrong. So you can prove that the followers of a god are wrong in their perception of the way the world works.
severuxtrololo Says:
May 27, 2012 - Creationism is a thing also, then. It is the refusal to believe in reality. I find it amazing how something can brainwash an individual to make them so arrogant and ignorant as to say something that COMPLETELY has no proof is real. Here is my question to you. What have you learned in Science class? Have you ever been in a proper class before? Just look into science, do some research, and hopefully you wont believe in such crap anymore. IF you still do, just don't bother with the world.
Breerox108 Says:
May 27, 2012 - Err...wow. This was overreacting don't you think? All they said was "God's creation". If they believe in god, maybe you should let them and just move on with your life...
severuxtrololo Says:
May 27, 2012 - none of your business.
Breerox108 Says:
May 27, 2012 - lol, then why are you posting it on youtube.....?
severuxtrololo Says:
May 27, 2012 - wow you're dumb.
Breerox108 Says:
May 27, 2012 - Lol, you are calling ME dumb when you can't even answer a simple question?
severuxtrololo Says:
May 27, 2012 - Yes, I am calling you dumb. I obviously could answer a simple question. I didn't choose to because I hoped you would realize the mistake you made. I called you dumb because you should have minded your own business in the first place, and now you want to have an argument with me.Good Bye.
Breerox108 Says:
May 27, 2012 - If you didn't want people in your buisness...then why did you post this long conversation on a public comment section? That's all I'm saying....
xTheGerbilx Says:
May 28, 2012 - I actually study biochemistry at university, I believe in evolution as I have witnessed it first hand on my own viral and bacterial projects. However, if some people choose to take a diffrent stance on how we were created in support of their religion, that's fine by me, they won't get hurt and they won't hurt me, at least as long as I'm not gonna act like an arrogant twat who thinks he knows best and thinks he is forced to make them see it what he sees
severuxtrololo Says:
May 28, 2012 - Where do I say I know best? I never implied that. You may call me "an arrogant twat", but not to the person who can't even see science? I said that they should do some research before they bring out god and that stuff. Really annoys me when people say everything is made by god. My parents have a religion, I respect that, but they don't go ahead and say "ooh, god's creation" or constantly talk about their religion. I think people should just keep religion to themselves in public. That's all..
xTheGerbilx Says:
May 29, 2012 - So people are just religious nutjobs just by calling things 'god's creation'? If you don't want people to talk about religion, than start with yourself and don't reply on them, because you have absolutely no better idea of how the world works or what your thoughts really imply, unless you have some 'god-like' qualities which make you a super-human being. Religion is based on community, and if you want your free will to express your own beliefs, you're gonna give it to all others too, comprende?
purrot Says:
May 29, 2012 - of course we have a better idea how the world started. they're the ones making the extraordinary claim that it was created by god, with no basis in reality. you don't need god-like qualities to understand the scientific method and how it's produced results. and religion DOES hurt people, children raised in religion are told to believe in a magical fairytale and distrust science, they hugely miss out on experiencing the world for what it is, through no choice of their own.
xTheGerbilx Says:
May 29, 2012 - because they follow the doctrines of an ancient way of life which first and formost purpose is make a society possible and only uses 'science' as a supporting role. Are you guys seriously blaming people from the first millenium for not knowing how carbon-dating works? or not understanding nucleid acid-mutations? I made my choice and I'm happy, so are you, and so are creationists, because reality is what you know, and that's what you make happiness from. In the end, the truth always sucks balls
purrot Says:
May 29, 2012 - i'm not blaming ppl from the first millennium (not sure why we're talking about them though), they just did their best with the limited information available. i'm blaming people who still cling to stone-age conceptions of the world.reality isn't what you know. reality is reality, it doesn't go away because you don't know about it or chose to ignore it.i find wilful ignorance immoral, but it's one's own choice of course. the problem is pushing that ignorance on others, as religious ppl tend to.
severuxtrololo Says:
May 29, 2012 - you really just wanna start a fucking flame war? i obviously dont think religious people are nutjobs. Its not me disliking the person, its kinda just what they believe in. i dont care if people believe that, but to a certain degree its frustrating. i sound like a douche to you over the internet, but im not irl. im not 10 i do know others can express opinions. I live in this world. so stop giving me shit that im just gonna rant on. im not one of those douchebag athiests, you just made me mad lol.

May 22, 2012 - Alien just means "not from here." People used to refer to immigrants as aliens. Alien means different and strange. Octopuses are pretty different and strange.
