Actually, since seeing the above video I've also viewed a couple of other videos of Knopfler in action. My faith has been restored again. Great stuff! Look at his vid with Ry Cooder! Awesome! I can only say that, when such iconic solos aren't really played live as the audience hopes to hear, as above, it can leave one feeling a bit flat and disappointed, I'm sure you'd agree.

It just wouldn't be the same, regardless of how tired the artists are of the song. The Audience isn't tired of it, they're the ones paying to hear it. But of course, artists do move on and that's a positive thing too. =:O) No harm intended in my comments.

The solo section is always different, as it should be, then he eventually comes back to the familiar hook so they're all on the same page. Have any of you ever heard Eric Johnson play the Cliffs of Dover intro and solo the same way twice?
