Oct 8, 2010 - Slavery in the states started our as indentured servitude. Whites and blacks worked for 4 years at which point they got their own plot of land, house and farmland. If someone wanted out, they just had to convert to Christianity. In fact slavery/indentured servitude was going out of style until cotton became the cash crop of the south, at which point the government changed the laws. History is distorted to create hatred. Terms like black/white werent used, they're more modern then you think.

Oct 28, 2010 - Corporate pigs back in 1700-1800's? They were used for mostly farm labor and domestic duties ie cooking/cleaning. It wasn't until the invention of the cotton gin where slavery was even revitalized prior to that it was on the decline. You're right to say its harder for a black slave to blend in with normal society, but you're more then likely speaking to slavery post cotton gin where laws were changed which shifts the blame to politicians. Prior, all they had to do was convert.

Oct 28, 2010 - After the cotton gin, slavery became something completely different. When money was flowing through people wanted to lock in the cheap labor. Prior though, after one finished their indentured servitude they were free. I'm definitely not slavery was a good thing or horrible things didn't happen at all. All I'm saying is the history normally taught glosses over some things and doesn't point out what really happened ie people saw huge profits with cheap labor and exploited the political system.
