Mar 4, 2012 - - This question gets asked a lot. HO is scaled to 3.5mm/1 foot, or ratio 1:87. OO is scaled to 4mm/1 foot, or ratio 1:76.2. Both run on 16.5mm gauge track, which is closer to scale for HO than OO. The size difference is noticable - if you can find HO and OO models of the same loco or carriage, the HO one will be 7/8ths the linear dimensions of the OO one.
