Jan 14, 2010 - Actually you can. You just learn about getting your opponent to establish a pattern, and than break the pattern. It is kind of like getting into a dance, but suddenly you break from the steps, and they don't see it coming. Patterns help you anticipate to a large degree.

Jun 26, 2010 - So these episodes are posted up, can somebody tell me if it's okay if I just learned these moves from scratch as I have never did martial arts ever in my life. Do I have to do any martial arts PRIOR to doing this? such as wing chun or tai chi? thx for the video post 138mws. =)

Jul 9, 2010 - @5turnerderek I tell people to challenge tradition instead of taking things on face value. the idea that the most powerful hand should be in the back is just accepted even by MMA fighters. funny though that in military science it is often believed that you should lead with your power ie tanks, elephants etc. fighters like marvin Hagler and Chad Dawson are southpaws with the right hand as the stronger yet they developed heavy left hands. carry your power up front and develop a strong rear hand.

Aug 3, 2010 - in the inosanto academy nowadays they don't insist so much on sticking out the power side to the front if the student doesn't feel comfortable with it,there are many reasons why, some people can throw a left sidekick way better and stronger then the right side kick even they aren't southpaws,or they feel a lot safer with the orthodox stance etc. i am not saying bruce lee was wrong under contrary, the individual is more important then any style, everybody is different and must find his own way.

Aug 26, 2010 - You don't need any previous martial arts experience to practice JKD, no. But I would really suggest you find a real instructor rather than trying to learn from the internet. I would suggest one of Ted Wong's or Jerry Poteet's lineage but that is just my personal preferance. Do find an instructor who can trace their lineage back to Bruce Lee though. There are many frauds in martial arts and it is easy to be tricked as a beginner. Good Luck! :)
Sjnjerak Says:
Aug 26, 2010 - That is a great point. But to the best of my understanding that is only true for sparring. A "real" fight is over before a pattern can be established and thus your best bet is to counter-strike as early on as possible or do a combined block strike as is standard practice in good JKD. Just my two cents though.
KongLaDe Says:
Aug 27, 2010 - Where is JKD? Where is the fight position etc.?
Saforge Says:
Aug 28, 2010 - Good 2 cents, another point alot of people don't consider when they think of a "real" fight is the sudden surge of adreneline and emotion that only ends the fight that much faster, be it because of fight or flight.
SkemeKOS Says:
Sep 16, 2010 - wheres the takedowns and ground and pound?
gelanjp Says:
Sep 26, 2010 - master wong is so bruce-lee style

Nov 19, 2010 - I would recommend learning Wing Chun first. You don't need to train 10 years in it, but at least a year or so. That's enough time to learn the fundamentals and then your JKD learning will be much smoother. Remember that JKD is what Bruce created after having a solid understanding of Wing Chun principles. He modified things of course, but all the really important concepts like centreline and intercepting are from Wing Chun.

JordyBT Says:
Jun 10, 2011 - Why isn't this used in MMA ?Really, because any fighter using these techniques will be able to better themselves by using these techniques.MMA has gotten to big headed.

Jun 28, 2011 - u are really speaking of what u know not...unless u enjoy the taste of ur foot

Jun 28, 2011 - I'm not against MMA, i train in MMA myself.....There are loads of techniques that MMA fighter don't use that could better their skills.
TEMUJINARTS Says:
Jun 28, 2011 - First,"mma" has been around for centurys before ufc and certainly before Mr lee put in his 2 cents, understand that first before u progress to anything else.Second, "tons" of tech that they dont use? Man,u require more+proper exposure to the WORLD of mma.Tell me who exacty are "they"? Brock? Silva?WHO?Mma encompasses a little more than those participants in UFC. There are "tons" of unrecoginized guys over the world who utilize tech not seen in UFC.Its simply a cookie cutter combat mostly
Ludak2001 Says:
