It is not striking at all and it is not because we need to know about religions to argue with religious people, it is in a lot of cases simply because finding out about religions through research or curiosity is what CAUSED us to stop believing.

If you know for a fact that 2+2=4, then there is no point in looking into why some believe 2+2=fish, you just know it's not true. That was my point. Is it any surprise that one of religion A doesn't know much of religion B? It isn't really because religion A does not require you to learn religion B. Truth doesn't require you to learn lies, as truth always overcome lies :)

(And I took the quiz online mentioned at the end of this video, and I got all ten right.)I am deeply concerned about the lack of evangelical knowledge (and in some cases, the hatred of knowledge among evangelicals) about Christianity and other religions. I disagree, I mean there may be some atheist who have done that, but in my case it was studying while I was a christian that got me on the path to atheism. Once you undo the brainwashing there is no going back, you can never again be a christian. May 30, 2012 - You live in Jackson TN? That explains a lot! I live in Henderson & it sucks b/c here there is no freedom from religion. Church on every corner begging people to attend the upcoming revival, vbs, or similar events. Even on a stretch of highway where there are nothing but trees for miles, handmade signs reading "Hell is Hot" are attached to trees. I can only guess how Christians would act if faced with atheist propaganda everywhere you turn. But we need none, Christianity does it all for us!

May 30, 2012 - I've always found it funny (even when I attended church) how churches need ongoing activities, dinners, kid related events, and such to keep people interested. Christians will explain that it is so they can associate with like-minded individuals instead of being tempted to run astray with "heathens", but that explanation also means the message alone can't keep Christians from turning away. Interesting. And people are waking up these days in record numbers and the church is falling apart.

If you, as most main stream christians do, just take it all on faith and do no research, don't read, don't question, sing your songs and attend services, you can't answer any hard religious questions because you just do not know. And most christians today fall into that narrow minded group.
