Added: Nov 1, 2009

Author: AngeliteriuM1

Duration: 10:0

Description:
Frank Gambale's "Acoustic Improvisation"s DVD follows the success of his first acoustic trio recording, "Natural High". This video features his trio, Natural Hight Live, with Otmaro Ruiz on piano, Alain Caron on bass, and Frank on acoustic guitar. After blowing through seven jaw-dropping performances with his world class band, Frank sits down for a candid one-on-one session about jazz improvisation. Using the changes to "All The Things You Are" as a foundation, Frank teaches a series of ideas for improvising over classic ii-V progressions using 3rds and 7ths, chord extensions, Phrygian, super Locrian. and diminished ideas. Frank incorporates rhythmic and melodic motifs and much, much more.

May 19, 2011 - Damn, just typed the whole comment and than pressed backspace, threw me one page back. Anyway, the 3rd of the G major chord is B and 7th is an F. Learn your scale diagrams.Someone correct me if Im wrong.

RedDragon52 Says:

Jun 14, 2011 - 7th of G major is F# dude, learn your scale diagrams..

MrRuggo Says:

Jun 15, 2011 - First thing, change your attitude, cause you are/were being a prick. Secondly, the major G chord is the fifth chord in the major C scale. Since the C major scales G mode is G mixolydian, it has the minor 7th and it also contains the same notes as the C-major scale, therefore no F#. But you can try to play f# over this progression and hear if the note fits. ;)

Nov 8, 2011 - Yes, a Yamaha - knob head and doesn't it sound the bollox?! Frank played Yammys for years just as brilliantly as any of his Ibanez or Carvin guitars. He can make ANY guitar sound just the way he wants. Yamaha make some very good guitars. Don't knock 'em till you try 'em.
