Title: The Fibonacci in Lateralus
Added: May 20, 2007
Author: philriehl
Duration: 9:24
Description:
The Fibonacci sequence in Tool's Lateralus. *3-31-10* Youtube just informed me that EMI owns this music and it's copyrighted, so if they decide to remove the audio, there's nothing I can do about it. It was just for a school project anyway. No big deal. *10-3-11* You can DL this vid here: http://www.philipriehl.com/videos/fib.flv

May 17, 2012 - One minute and 37 seconds equal 97/60 minutes or one and 37/60 minutes. This equals 1.616666667, which is approximately the golden ration of 1.618. But seeing that you are from Island, your lack of understanding might be related to something else: Americans use the Dot as a decimal point, whereas in a lot of other cultures / languages the Comma is used instead. So 1.618 does not translate to one thousand, sixhundert and eigtheen, but rather one point six-one-eight.

May 17, 2012 - This is the most impressive song ever. As a math major, I am absolutely floored by the complexity that Keenan put into this. Also, my top comment was copy/pasted from wikipedia so don't credit me for discovering that. I just appreciate everything about this song!

May 18, 2012 - not "minutes" it's 1.618 of a minute. multiply 60 seconds(a minute) with 1.618 and you will get 97

May 19, 2012 - The most KICK ASS school project ever. Would for sure sit in class and watch this. Whats better than listening to Tool?
praveenbec Says:
May 19, 2012 - assuming a decimal base, 37 seconds = 0.618 minutes. Therefore, 1:37 = 1.618 min. close enough?
