Dec 27, 2010 - @blessiththechily I think that they did not as I know they helped him financially and they did always miss him so royalties might have been effected if they had a name change...just guessing on that. But yes you have a good point on the name change

Dec 29, 2010 - @WELLBRAN you are talking shit.and u know it.what about Roger?Wright? and Mason? (i'm not counting Gilmour atm even tho i luv him)
MrCeej9999 Says:
Dec 31, 2010 - Waters, Mason were little more than session players when Syd was in the band.He wrote almost everything, played almost everything, and sang almost everything.Waters, and Mason only really shone once he left

Jan 6, 2011 - @MrCeej9999What makes it so sad is that while he was doing all the work and everyone was making demands of him, no one seemed to give a damn enough about him as a person to give him a chance to relax. EVen demanding songs of him up until '74. It's sick and heartbreaking imagining what he must've been feeling and going through when he wrote "Wouldn't you miss me?" and "Jugband Blues" especially considering that they called themselves his friends.
valaurwen Says:
Jan 6, 2011 - @Xiolablu3The crowds cried for many songs that they refused to play, particularly songs of his because THEY NEEDED HIM TO PLAY THEM. He was their front man and so without him they couldn't play most of their material. The crowds LOVED Syd which is why he has such a massive following down to this day. Where you got the idea that the band didn't like this song or other songs written by Syd I have no idea, because both the band managers and band members say the opposite and proclaim Syd a genius.
valaurwen Says:
Jan 6, 2011 - @blessiththechilyAgreed. But it's depressing when you think about what he could've been had he gotten the help and support that he needed and been able to remain in the limelight, still creating music. When you listen to "Wouldn't you miss me?" and "Jugbland Blues" amongst other things you hear how miserable, lonely, and pained he was. It's so heartbreaking. He really did love music and the band, just they didn't want him when they couldn't use him anymore.

Jan 6, 2011 - @johannefor3A lot of Barrett's stuff inspired the Beatles. They've even said it themselves. His musical style inspired many of the greatest pop artists of that era and later (The Beatles, Bowie, even Hendrix, etc). To be entirely honest, if it wasn't for Barrett and his pioneering sound with Floyd pop/rock wouldn't be what it is today.

Jan 6, 2011 - Those screeching guitars sent shivers up my spine! The video was a bit spooky too - and the singer just simply brilliant.

Jan 8, 2011 - @MrCeej9999 wtf are you talking about? You're putting Nick Mason with Roger Waters in terms of songwriting capability and sorry, Syd was great but Roger Waters is one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
luigikicksass Says:
Jan 9, 2011 - @marnold6879 Yeah, but Roger Waters is one cocky of a mother fucker. He claims he's Pink Floyd? Hell no. He was probably more creative music wise in his time with Syd! Along with everyone!
sbogiam61 Says:
Jan 11, 2011 - every syd barrett song is about L.S.D. almost evry other song after him is about going crazy.
rekycheky Says:
Jan 11, 2011 - one ought to listen to this on an old record player with a few scratches on the record, cracked up to maximum Volume and then enjoy.
Benalto Says:
Jan 13, 2011 - Waters already had 1 song and a couple co-writes with Syd on "Piper". I don't deny early Pink is Syd's band but I think Wright is vastly underrated in what he contributed to the early Pink Floyd sound. His playing on the Barrett record makes that a far better sounding production than Madcap Laughs, as well.
paisleyization Says:
Jan 16, 2011 - Syd's is the saddest story is rock. He would have been a mega star with this artistic and musical gift. By the time he became successful, it was over for him; the fact that people still are fascinated by him says everything. He had it all. He had something that is timeless, what ever era you would live in, he would have been a magnet; mesmerizing, artistic, genius.
Billinois78 Says:
Jan 16, 2011 - @Benalto I agree.

Jan 20, 2011 - Absolutely brilliant construction.
