May 25, 2012 - It's a metaphor. Ever heard of it?

TheSungeek Says:

May 25, 2012 - Why are you such an idiot.Have you ever even seen the movie? It explains everything there perfectly.Watch it.Again and again until your little fried brain understands that this song is talking about fucking Pink who happens to be voiced by Waters, and his mother, voiced by Gilmour. He keeps asking his mother questions about the war.Mother do you think they'll drop the bombs."THEY" is the government, not Mother. So the government checks out my girlfriends and makes sure no one dirties me?Think again.

silentjoerge Says:

low72 Says:

May 26, 2012 - Why do you people who are in denial choose to always call people names? I mean we all know this song, Mother, which is a metaphor, is about big government. We already KNOW this. I've seen The Wall several times, obviously you haven't. You need to go back to the thinking board and really understand what Roger is talking about. You're just making assumptions.

umserpensante Says:

May 26, 2012 - If "Mother" is a metaphor for Government, what does "Young Lust" mean? And "daddy" in "A. B. in The Wall part I"? "Mother" is mother, unless Roger doesn't say so.

L36Bruno Says:

May 26, 2012 - If Mother was a metaphor for government, then why the line "mother should I trust the government?"? You are over complicating a simple concept. It really is just a song about an over protective mother. "Of course mothers gonna help build the wall"- do you think big government would encourage this in its population, when in reality they like to snoop and tear down barriers?

low72 Says:

May 26, 2012 - No because they want everyone to be in fear and conceded, they want everyone to be isolated from each other and diversified, just like how politics work, he asks that question because the government are supposed to be for the people, so it's a "haha, charade you are" like in the song Pigs, it's poking fun at the ones in power, if you couldn't catch that, but yes this really is a song about big government, thank you.

Lisavanhagen Says:

May 26, 2012 - I think it is pretty brilliant. And I graduated top of my class 4.0 the entire time in Video Production at The Art Institute. The other idiots are.......idiots...and if you make people think and they get pissed off about it...you've don your job well.

yindyamarra Says:

wvdpanhuysen Says:

May 27, 2012 - I think it's good to show these old film recordings of atom bomb tests accompanied with such a beautiful social critical song like Pink Floyd/Roger Waters' "Mother". The song was written during the so called Cold War, when many people feared the threat of a nuclear war. The singer asks his mother questions about it. Of course, the images of the above ground bomb detonations are horrifying. Using atom bombs is always an insane and criminal act against Mother Earth, whose fruits nurture us,

L36Bruno Says:

May 27, 2012 - Mmm...interesting. But I strongly disagree. So we'll just agree to disagree eh? You have your interpratation, and I'll have mine. Good evening, and good luck.

May 28, 2012 - What the fuuuuuuuck.... How could this kick ass video not be currently available. Very very disappointing....

hoiaroam Says:

May 28, 2012 - Well, actually, for what I understand about this song, it's a sarcastic criticism about mothers. Saying that mothers protect their children too much, for too long. This builds a wall for them, and their mothers, unknowingly, help them build that wall.

wvdpanhuysen Says:

May 28, 2012 - Yes, I believe you see the meaning of the song correctly. "Mama is gonna keep you right here under her wing. She won't let you fly." Indeed the overprotective mama. I know that very well in my personal life. It's that generation that thougtht it could educate children by keeping them small. That wall is the symbol for the alienation between people. Thanks for the reply.

jirvingnc Says:

May 29, 2012 - For all of you arguing about the meaning of the song.. I am the creator of this video.. And I compiled it in this way because that's how I felt like doing it.. It was not meant to have any meaning.. It was compiled because I was bored 6 years ago while doing bong hits in my office.. I thought it turned out pretty cool, so I uploaded it to youtube, and here we are.. Music is interpreted by the individual. That's the art of music, it can be taken in any way that agrees with YOU!

srmeo Says:
