Kawmyot, the ancient martial arts that built the great Angkor empire, was created in the 3rd century by the Kawm people who were the ancestors of the modern Khmer people. In the 12th century King Jayavaraman VII and his general name Taumoreak refined kawmyot into the combat system used today. Since 2009 the Yutkrom Khorm Association (YKA) has been training a new generation of Khmer martial artists. Chairman Ong Janyottereaj of the YKA has spared no effort in the research, preservation and teaching of Kawmyot. This video shows a kawmyot exhibition performed by students of the YKA in a ceremony at a temple.
