Please visit http://www.salarmy-nashville.org to see where you can volunteer or donate.Visit http://tinyurl.com/24ptdcr for a stunning image gallery of the flooding caught after this was filmed.Between May 1st and May 2nd, 2010, Middle Tennessee received the greatest amount of rainfall in recorded history. It has left us with several casualties, millions of dollars in damage and an indelible mark on our city. This video shows but a small sample of the destruction and mayhem wrought by this disaster. Please pray for those affected by this tragedy. For those who have asked, this was shot handheld with a Canon 5D Mark II. I used Canon's 35mm, 50mm and 85mm prime lenses.I feel so blessed by the outpouring of support for this video. I hope it has helped to get the word out. This has been featured by the following sources:- Drudge Report- Mashable- NPR- The Atlantic- The Weather Channel- Breitbart.tv- The Weekly Standard- Macleans.ca- Buzzfeed- Urlesque- My Mom's Facebook profile

Dec 12, 2010 - I hate to nitpick, but shouldn't the title be 'Middle Tennesssee Flood'?Me and my family got very frustrated because all of the news channels kept replaying the same old loop of footage from Nashville. They made no attempt to cover the flooding in any other area that was affected. I understand covering Nashville first, because it has the largest population, but they just ignored everyone else. They treated it like Nashville was the only area that mattered. Shameful.

Dec 23, 2010 - how do you do that focus thing at 1:49
breakwings Says:
Dec 30, 2010 - It's called a Pull Focus. It's pretty simple to do..just focus on the foreground, then further back. It just because you see the whole image of the ground being pulled into focus, which makes it look different from 0:49 for example. Not sure if I explained it well, if not. Google Pull Focus :)

Mar 15, 2011 - @noblew357 Believe me, I'd LIKE to know more; especially since I plan to move to the area in a few years. Can't imagine the mold problems and everything else that goes along with post apocalyptic flooding and the covered up real estate jobs that usually follow. I've found a confusing map that is supposed to show what areas were affected by the flood and how bad, but am in the process of trying to find better and less "encrypted" info on this disaster.

Mar 15, 2011 - I love that track you used. Really nice job on the your film in general. I really like the shot at 2:30 with the swirling/spinning "thing". I don't know if that's a chair or what, but that shot is quite powerful and you really threw it together quickly according to your post date.

May 18, 2011 - Why we can not dig kanals like in Europe and China to eliminate floods in great degree. If we use our few Million of prizoners for earth work (digging etc) we can save land from future tragedies. We can also learn from more developed countrieds like Germany, Poland, Russia and their methods of defending from flood.
