Feb 14, 2012 - Youtube is a great example of social evolution by technology. If you think the argument for Vinyl/CD vs Controllers is valid, quit posting on youtube and facebook and start burning disks and hand them out in clubs and the street only, because these new forms of media also follow the same pattern. Its very easy to distribute your content now because someone else created something for you. - -

Feb 27, 2012 - Well said! Bravo!! The only people who have ever given a crap about a mash up, remix, or beat mix blend have been other Djs in the crowd. The dance floor is packed, drinks are flowing, and the bar/venue owner loves me - the only people that have given me crap that I wasn't mixing live were the very people ur talking about. (have fun, throw a party and you will be loved)

Feb 28, 2012 - There are so many things I could say, but there's not enough room on this thread. So, I'll make it short. First of all, it goes both ways. ChoeKonit complains how vinyl DJs talk shit about how he DJs. Yet, on the flip side, a digital ableton DJ, who couldn't beat match on his own to save his life, actually has the nerve to critique DJs who spin vinyl and talk shit because a vinyl mix isn't as "clean" as their programmed mix. He acts like he is some kind of victim. STFU, I say. ;)
1Stormbringer Says:
Feb 28, 2012 - And unlike what ChoeKonit would like everyone to believe, kids aren't stupid. Well, for the most part, they're not. We do have idiots who worship kids like DJ Blend for doing something that anyone else can do as long as they have some money and can act a fool on youtube. However, there are many who do know when DJs are taking the easy way out. I hear kids complaining every day about stuff like that or how they see it as a joke anytime someone says that they are a DJ. It used to not be that way
1Stormbringer Says:
Feb 28, 2012 - And no. I don't think I'm a god because I play on vinyl turntables. I have been DJing since 1994, and I am still learning. Being a vinyl DJ doesn't mean that the learning stops after years of DJing. Of course, ChoeKonit would probably like everyone to believe that the learning stops after a few months of buying a pair of 1210s... :p That's not really the case, because there's always areas on the format that one can improve in..Such as learning how to scratch and make it sound good with trance.
1Stormbringer Says:
Feb 28, 2012 - Yeah, ChoeKonit may think that all DJs do is play other artist's music. That's because I think he's a newbie to the DJ scene. If he would have taken his time and learned the basic craft of DJing, he would have a different outlook. Look at it this way. DJs, for the most part, helped get this edm scene the way it is today. If it weren't for DJs, Choe would probably be rocking out to Britney Spears at a concert instead of being part of the EDM scene. Don't let this Choe idiot fool you, guys.

Feb 29, 2012 - Laughed out loud at this video, woke my roommate up
1Stormbringer Says:
Feb 29, 2012 - haha...1,269 people couldn't beat match and blend on their own, to save their own lives, and they also couldn't tell the difference between a DJ and a juke box while 103 people actually can beat match and blend perfectly and they also hate juke boxes. ;)
KevSchism Says:
Mar 2, 2012 - I think the point is more that software is getting so good that the dj doesnt have to do anything much anymore. Cue tracks and what...hit SYNC and play? It encourages overnight djs with no real knowledge and makes mixes sound the same from one dj to the next. But one thing you say is very true... only djs care. The fans and promoters are calling the shots.
TheBlindNiggaMC Says:
Mar 2, 2012 - your a genius my man. no question
icetrey92 Says:
May 26, 2012 - disc+jocky=dj. no disc no dj. end of story. if you dont scratch on vinyl then call yourself somthing your not
eazzzzzy Says:
May 29, 2012 - "Until these technological advances have artistic merit and actually elevate the art form, they are just a lazy and less skilled methods of expression." - Theo Parrish. There's a reason why the most skilled dj's in the world play records, all you 'syncers' out there will get burned on a dance floor by a dj who has a crate of 60 records (and maybe a few cds) he knows inside out. You ARE less talented, and you're killing the art form.
pgriffin22 Says:
May 30, 2012 - (*CLAP CLAP CLAP)*, bravo man! you hit the nail right on the fucking head with this one, people need to grow up about this, its doesnt matter if you play on CD vinyl or on midi, that fact is your playing music so that people can enjoy the music and have a good time! who gives a shit what media fromat you use. great vid by the way
