Added: Nov 15, 2008

Author: ChristopherJSykes

Duration: 7:7

Description:
Physicist Richard Feynman thinks aloud about atoms and how they jiggle, and how we perceive that jiggling as 'hot' and 'cold'. From the BBC TV series 'Fun to Imagine'(1983). You can now watch higher quality versions of some of these episodes at www.bbc.co.uk/archive/feynman/

Mar 27, 2012 - I sent this to a friend of mine and he said that quantum physics can be studied by looking at Kate Upton's boobs and that more jiggling = hotter. lol.

brownie003 Says:

Mar 30, 2012 - if u jiggle boobs fast enough, u may even be able to "feeel' the heat

Mar 31, 2012 - a lot of times when there are vids with hot girls there's always someone pointing out how the vids are most popular with males. well, looks like hell froze over here.

Apr 1, 2012 - its all about the jiggling, bitches.

Apr 3, 2012 - The only reason I didn't do science in school is because then I would have to science in school.

William Arnold Says:

Apr 5, 2012 - The problem with science in the public schools (US) is that it's taught by people who don't love/care about/enjoy science. What makes Feynman so fun to listen to is the passion. Any subject can become bearable if the educator brings a little bit of energy to there lesson.

Apr 16, 2012 - There's no reason to presume Feynman was sexually frustrated from this video. I think you're projecting that trait onto yourself.

Apr 25, 2012 - 2:39 to 2:43 - Please someone clarify what does he mean by that the floor is shaking more then before? does he mean.. The vibrations of the earth; or more accurately the patches of the ground that the ball had bounced off are shaking more?? (I dont fully understand here, hell I dont think what I just said is accurate to what im trying to say) Vibration is a form of energy so when the energy disperses does it simply become another form of energy or does it stay constant?

Apr 29, 2012 - He's saying that the floor is a little warmer because the ball bounced on it. Part of the energy from the ball was lost as heat to the floor.

May 2, 2012 - Richard Feynman has such a simple way of explaining physics.. anyone should have him as their first professor.

HabeKeinMitleid Says:

May 17, 2012 - Yeah, but in Feynman's world, every single principle of every single discipline of science is basic and simple. I think that's how we should all be. Take the shit out of a lot of physics and chemistry textbooks and you're left with actual, useable information and imagination tools instead of a load of tripe. Feynman also says that if you can't explain something in simple terms, then you don't understand it. I think that also rings true.

BigPimp238 Says:

May 18, 2012 - Feynman would be very proud about that statement, only boobs beat science to him

RACKGNOME Says:

May 18, 2012 - PorroFirst, look up Feynman's lecture book. He wrote a textbook of his lectures. If you learn from it or glance at it you will notice that it very quickly descends into extremely complex situations and material. He would be insanely hard to have as a professor, and his lectures would, and did, confuse the shit out of people.
