It's a very bright sounding guitar and many bands have used them (The smashing pumpkins, sonic youth, Pink Floyd ect.), if you want a heavier tone I would suggest a Les Paul or an SG (Epiphone sells Gibson authorized and designed versions)

Jan 26, 2012 - Yo man, you can buy a new pickguard from Warmoth and they have a "Delonge Volume" option, which moves the volume hole away from the strings. I also hated that, and they also have many other nice options including "reverse bridge slant" which I also prefer. Cheers

I want something that has great bell like glassy tones ala SRV clean/Gilmour clean and something that can get down and dirty ala Hendrix/assorted classic rock bands.
